JOB DESCRIPTION (Roles, Responsibilities, and Expectations)

Summary/Objective
Process Tech is responsible for accurate mold set ups; start-ups; and process monitoring of part runs.  Process Tech will also be responsible for processing in and qualifying T0 and New Tool Set-Ups to develop a stabilized process.  Process Tech will be working with Project Engineer and/or Project Manager during these types of processing.

Essential Functions

  1. Responsible for accurate mold set-ups
  2. Responsible for accurate part run start-ups.
  3. Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency and work with Quality Tech to ensure part quality and performance.
  4. Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work area.
  5. Communicate with prior and oncoming shifts to give work assignments and expectations to achieve production requirements.
  6. Lead groups of employees with various molding skill levels.
  7. Material handling, monitoring of auxiliary equipment, and minor maintenance required.
  8. Work with PE’s and Leadmen on ways to improve mold design for better parts.
  9. Responsible for making a list of items needed to be fixed after a mold sample and to mark-up parts for leadman and polisher. 
  10. Responsible for mixing and drying of resins as needed based on upcoming schedules.

Supervisory Responsibility
Some supervisory responsibility required when backing up Molding Supervisor.  Be able to lead small group of operators.

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to stand and walk for full shift.  Able to lift 50 lbs.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must be able to stand and walk for full shift.  Able to lift 50 lbs.  Must be able to reach and stretch with arms and hands.  Twisting and bending required.  Specific vision abilities required by this position include close inspection identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgement, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.   Evenings and weekends as needed.

Travel
No expected for this position unless Molding Supervisor is unavailable.

Preferred Education

  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  2. Minimum of 3 years recent experience as a process setup technician in the field of plastic injection molding with a strong mechanical aptitude required.  Experience with Nissie Molding Presses and proficiency with a large range of resins (PP, HIPS, ABS, PC-ABS, PC, PA6, PA66, PVC (Rigid and Flexible), HDPE, LDPE, PBT, PET, TPU
  3. Knowledge of hydraulics and/or electrical systems for both relay and solid state machinery.
  4. Working knowledge of the most current technologies and products used in the industry.

Preferred Experience

  1. RJG processing skills a plus.
  2. Moderate computer skills.
  3. Ability to anticipate and solve problems.  Resolve issues through process elimination.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  5. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  6. Superior analytical skills combined with impeccable business judgement.
  7. Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a highly energized and fast paced environment within a framework of constantly shifting deadlines and deliverables. 
  8. Requires minimal supervision.
  9. Clean driving record.
  10. Self-motivated with the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities.
  11. Flexibility to adapt to change and willing to learn and develop new skill sets as applicable.

Training
One day off-site training every two years within technical field (must be approved by supervisor)

 Pass drug screen.
