Job Title: QC Sample Management SpecialistJob Description

The QC Sample Management Specialist plays a key role in supporting quality control testing by receiving, logging, tracking, and distributing samples throughout the QC process. This position maintains accurate chain-of-custody documentation and sample traceability, performs aliquoting activities using biosafety cabinets and aseptic techniques, and creates reference standards and control materials to support QC testing. The specialist coordinates shipment of samples to external contract laboratories, manages associated shipping and compliance documentation, and utilizes LIMS to oversee sample inventory and tracking. In addition, the role supports laboratory operations, including refrigerators, freezers, and stability chambers, and assists with equipment maintenance activities by relocating and managing stored materials while following GMP procedures and site documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Receive, log, track, and distribute samples throughout quality control testing processes to ensure timely and accurate analysis.
  • Maintain proper chain-of-custody documentation and sample traceability in accordance with GMP procedures and site documentation requirements.
  • Perform aliquoting activities using biosafety cabinets and aseptic techniques to prepare samples for QC testing.
  • Create and maintain reference standards and control materials required for quality control testing activities.
  • Coordinate shipment of samples to external contract laboratories, including preparing shipping materials and completing all required shipping and compliance documentation.
  • Utilize LIMS to manage sample inventory, tracking, and status updates, ensuring accurate data entry and record keeping.
  • Support laboratory operations by monitoring and managing refrigerators, freezers, and stability chambers used for sample and material storage.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance activities by relocating and organizing stored materials as needed to support laboratory functionality.
  • Follow GMP procedures and site documentation standards in all sample management and laboratory support activities.
  • Perform accurate data entry related to sample management, LIMS records, and laboratory documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional manufacturing and quality teams to ensure efficient sample flow and compliance with quality standards.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related Life Science field.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on maintaining accurate documentation and sample traceability.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple samples, inventories, and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively in a team environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Sanford, NC, operating on a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The environment is fast-paced with a start-up feel, offering exposure to both GMP and non-GMP processes due to a variety of product types. Team members work closely with cross-functional manufacturing and quality groups and gain exposure to GMP quality control operations, sample management programs, laboratory systems, and compliance practices. The setting includes routine work with laboratory equipment such as biosafety cabinets, refrigerators, freezers, and stability chambers, and supports professional development and potential long-term growth within multiple quality and laboratory disciplines.

This is a Contract position based out of Raleigh, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
