Job description

Sample Management Technician (Laboratory)

Location: Richmond, VA
Pay: $20.13 per hour
Shift: SECOND SHIFT – 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM (40 hours/week)

Looking for a stable laboratory career with a consistent second-shift schedule? Join our team as a Sample Management Technician, where you'll play a vital role in supporting laboratory operations by ensuring the accurate handling, tracking, and processing of samples and standards.

What You'll Do
  • Receive, log, label, inventory, transport, and track laboratory samples and standards.

  • Ensure proper sample handling and storage in accordance with established SOPs and regulatory requirements.

  • Communicate sample status updates with laboratory staff.

  • Review laboratory requests for SOP compliance.

  • Complete investigation and deviation documentation and assist with corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).

  • Train and support laboratory personnel on sample handling procedures and storage requirements.

  • Respond to environmental unit alarms and participate in on-call responsibilities as needed.

  • Perform all assignments accurately, safely, and within required timelines.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Technical certificate is a plus for applicable positions.

  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in laboratory support, sample management, inventory control, or a similar environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of laboratory documentation and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience with inventory control and sample tracking.

  • Familiarity with process improvement and SOP review.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
