Its core operating businesses include Foss Maritime, Cook Inlet Tug & Barge and AmNav Maritime. Together, these companies provide essential marine logistics, harbor assist, and project services. The group plays a key role in supporting energy, industrial, and community supply chains in complex maritime environments.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, commercially driven leader based in Seattle to help grow and strengthen our towage business across the Pacific Northwest, California, and Hawaii, as well as other areas where Saltchuk Marine operates. The Commercial Manager will lead customer relationships, commercial strategy, contract negotiations, and business development across a diverse portfolio of ports and marine services. Working closely with operations and senior leadership, this role offers the opportunity to make a visible impact on a market-leading maritime business.

This is a high-impact position with broad exposure to executive leadership and significant influence over the future direction of the commercial organization. The level and title of this position may be calibrated based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute commercial strategies that drive sustainable growth and profitability.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with shipping lines, terminal operators, government agencies, and key customers.
  • Lead negotiations for service agreements, pricing, and long-term commercial contracts.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across existing and adjacent marine services.
  • Partner with operations to deliver safe, reliable, and customer-focused solutions.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and port developments to inform business strategy.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities.
  • Represent the Company throughout the Pacific Northwest and Canada at customer and industry events.

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in maritime, ports, logistics, transportation, or related industrial services.
  • Demonstrated success in commercial management, strategic account management, or business development.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to balance customer, operational, and financial objectives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly.

Compensation: 

Pay for this position will be between $132,976 to $199,464 annually based on experience. This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive compensation plan (ICP). The target bonus will be 20% of base salary, subject to company and individual performance and per company policy.

  • The benefit program includes medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family.
  • This position will accrue 15 days of vacation a year. Accrued vacation will be vested and available for use after successfully completing six (6) months of service.
  • Life insurance equal to two times annual base salary.
  • Accidental death and dismemberment insurance. Long term disability insurance.
  • 401k program with a 4% match, vested immediately.

  • Nine (9) paid holidays with two (2) additional floating holidays available after six (6) months of service.
  • Full time employees will accrue ninety-six (96) hours of sick leave per year, up to a maximum of 1,040 hours.
  • Bereavement Leave - three (3) paid days off for a death in the immediate family, or five (5) days off if travel greater than 500 miles is required.
  • Tuition reimbursement.
  • All other benefits as required by law
