Northern Air Cargo:(NAC) is a scheduled cargo airline based in Anchorage, Alaska. As the largest all-cargo airline in Alaska, NAC operates aircraft throughout our network, including Alaska and Hawaii. The airline operates out of primary bases at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and the Daniel Inouye International Airport in Honolulu. The mission of Northern Air Cargo (NAC) is to provide safe, reliable aviation cargo services for our customers and create a place for employees to build long-term careers.
Northern Air Maintenance Services, LLC: (NAMS) is a Part 145 certified repair station that provides maintenance/ground services to a major oil exploration and production company on a year-round basis. In addition to maintenance services, NAMS provides all below-wing services including baggage handling, catering, aircraft servicing, passenger loading, etc.
Ryan Air, Inc.: (Ryan), a Part 135 air carrier, operates a fleet of 23 aircraft including Cessna 207's, Cessna 208's, Casa 212's, SAAB 340's, and Pilatus PC-12's and utilizes a hub-and-spoke model to deliver bypass mail, general freight, and to a smaller extent, passengers to over 70 villages in rural Alaska.
Aloha Air Cargo: (AAC) is the largest air freight carrier in the state of Hawaii and is a vital transportation provider to business, government, and non-profit entities. AAC moves approximately 350,000 pounds of diverse cargo, including perishables and priority packages, per day to all the major destinations (Honolulu, Kahului, Lihue, Kona, and Hilo).
Aloha Tech Ops: (ATO) provides aircraft maintenance and repair services to several airlines flying to all the major destinations in Hawaii. ATO provides over 2,000 pre-departure checks monthly to its various customers.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Flight Follower assists management in monitoring the day-to-day activities of the Flight Follower to ensure a cordial and productive work environment. This position maintains a high degree of knowledge pertaining to all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR's) as well as NAC company policies and procedures to ensure the daily operation is safe, efficient, and meets performance goals.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs, mentors and motivates Flight Followers to maximize performance and potential during daily operations. Fosters a positive work environment that values open communication, trust and personal accountability. Sets a positive example for others to follow.
The incumbent must be able to effectively communicate with the Flight Followers and other departments, have strong leadership and coordination skills as well as the ability to make timely and correct decisions in a high stress environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures Flight Followers are performing all aspects of their daily duties and responsibilities related to NAC's services with a sense of urgency in a 24/7 operation environment.
  • Ensures compliance with company code of ethics and policies such as anti-harassment and anti-discrimination.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with Flight Operations, Maintenance, and Cargo Operations personnel and management during daily operations.
  • Assists the Manager of Flight Following by fielding daily operational or technical concerns by Flight Followers, Crew Members, Crew Schedulers, stations, maintenance, and government agencies as it relates to the flight operations.
  • Provides work direction in the absence of normal operating instructions.
  • Ensures there is a contact and timely flow of information between Flight Followers and all other departments during daily operations.
  • Distributes the daily workload evenly amongst the Flight Followers and assists by working flights when the Flight Follower is overwhelmed or performs the duties of the Flight Follower when required.
  • Monitors the work schedule for adequate shift coverage and arrange coverage.
  • Provides on the job training for initial flight followers and administers Competency Checks.
  • Schedules and provides classroom training for all Flight Follower for initial and recurrent training.
  • Designs, implements, and trains courseware and other duties associated with Flight Following training.
  • Provides training for on-the-job-training (OJT) instruction guidance.
  • Coordinates with all other department heads to develop standards, and quality curricula relevant to ever changing operational requirements.
  • Design courseware and curricula in coordination with subject matter experts.
  • Conduct audits to ensure curricula content is thorough, relevant, accurate, and exceeds all FAR and Company policies
  • Seek opportunities for automations and implement where practical
  • Assist the Manager of Flight Following to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) towards the improvement of Flight Following.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge related to the FARs and dispatching best practices
  • Demonstrates good leadership, problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive, productive work relationships with all team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong computer skills including Windows, Excel, PowerPoint and web browsers.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as government regulations, collective bargaining agreements, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively with crewmembers, management, internal stakeholders, etc.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in Written, Oral, Mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid FAA Aircraft Dispatcher license, able to maintain competency. (Dispatchers must be 23 years of age per the FARs).
  • One (1) year of experience supervising dispatchers or comparable function in an aviation environment. 2-3 years preferred.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring others
  • Previous airline experience, preferred.
  • International dispatching experience, strongly preferred
  • ETOPS experience, strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The employee is regularly required to sit and sometimes stand.
  • The employee will need to see (including close vision), speak and hear.
  • Manual dexterity is required for input into or manipulation of spreadsheets, composing composition and reports, etc.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • This position has a high-level of responsibility for a safety-sensitive function. Ability to manage periods of high stress is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Most work is performed in an office setting with adequate ventilation and lighting.
  • May be exposed to high noise levels, dirt, dust, fumes, etc.
  • Use of personal protective equipment may be required.
