Job description

Security Officer

Security Officers at Kohanaiki are responsible for the overall loss prevention and safety for Kohanaiki Club, its members and personnel; as well as the Kohanaiki Beach Park and the public that utilizes it. Security Officers on the Kohanaiki Security Team may be expected to work all positions involved with Security at Kohanaiki including: Greeter / Entry Control; Beach Security; & Security Rover shifts. Security at Kohanaiki is a 24-hour job and therefore Security Officers must be able to work all scheduled shifts (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, & 10pm-6am). Kohanaiki is dedicated to the integrity and commitment to the community and environment in which we live. At all times, the Kohanaiki Security employees will be cognizant of the treatment of our daily environment by upholding strong ethics in products used, displayed, and disposed of. We are responsible for the environmental stewarding of Kohanaiki and treating each other as an Ohana.

Job Responsibilities and Standards:

The following description of job responsibilities and standards are intended to reflect the essential functions of the position. This outline does not detail every aspect of the position and there may be other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Job Specifics:

  • Control of access in and out of the property to ensure property is secure
  • Act as a steward and ambassador of Kohanaiki and its values
  • Incident reporting
  • Communication with members, guests, colleagues, and public
  • Rule enforcement
  • Inspection of all areas of property for safety and security
  • Ability respond to emergency calls in a calm and efficient manner.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Guard Card Certification required
  • CPR/AED Certification a plus
  • Experience in Security / Loss Prevention (2 years) a plus.

Customer Service Responsibility:

  • Ensures that the club's customer service standards are maintained at an exceptional level.
  • Presents self in a professional manner including appearance, identification, and general communication and conduct at all times.
  • Makes a positive contribution to the work environment through presentation of positive attitude, demonstration of cooperation and teamwork, and constructive approach to daily events.
  • Listens effectively, responds to guests' requests in a friendly "can do" manner.
  • Must be able to communicate with fellow team members and supervisors about job tasks, responsibilities, suggestions, & concerns
  • Must be able to respond to requests of members & guests
  • Must be able to communicate with the Operations team member names and vendor information as they pass thru the entry gate
  • Must be able to communicate efficiently with colleagues during emergency and high-pressure situations.

Dependability:

  • Attendance : Adheres to established schedule of work hours. Follows established procedures for early notification to supervisor when unable to report to work. Call a manager 30 minutes before shift starts to avoid an improper call in.
  • Punctuality: Arrives to work at scheduled times and works until authorized to leave.
  • Attends all mandatory education/in-service programs and demonstrates understanding of responsibilities through appropriate actions.
  • Demonstrates effective communication by utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal skills in all interactions.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and extra hours when needed.

Safety:

  • Demonstrates adherence to the club's safe practice procedures and makes recommendations to improve safety. Reports any unsafe work practice to supervisor.
  • Consistently utilizes proper body mechanics in performance of responsibilities, as evidenced by supervisor's observation and no injury to self or others due to improper work habits.
  • Follows proper reporting procedures when injured at work. Is aware of the location of material safety data sheets and refers to them when necessary.

Physical and Mental Requirements of the Job:

  • Ability to lift 40lbs
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain
  • Ability to drive utility vehicles on off-road terrain
  • Able to work outdoors in an environment where they are exposed to high temperatures, wind, & rain
  • Able to work during, evenings, weekend and holidays.
  • Able to work on uneven terrain
  • Responsible / alert drivers capable of maneuvering utility vehicles in a safe manner around hazardous conditions (large crowds, heavy machinery, heavy traffic, etc.)
  • Demonstrates adherence to the club's safe practice procedures and makes recommendations to improve safety. Reports any unsafe work practice to supervisor.
  • Consistently utilizes proper body mechanics in performance of responsibilities, as evidenced by supervisor's observation and no injury to self or others due to improper work habits.
