Location: Salt Lake City, Utah 

Type: Permanent Full-time

 

Primero USA's team is currently looking for a Structural Engineer.          
 This is a unique opportunity to join our talented team and be part of Primero's growth and success. Primero is an Australian-founded company, established in 2011 and growing consistently in Montreal since 2016. We expanded into Houston in 2022, Toronto in 2023, and Salt Lake City in 2026, strengthening our North American presence. We specialize in the design, procurement, and construction management of mineral processing plants.

The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design of steel and concrete structures and foundations in accordance with project requirements, working under the supervision of the Lead Structural Engineer. This role involves applying specialized and advanced engineering principles at a detailed level and ensuring that design requirements are clearly communicated to the drafting team.

You'll play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and constructible designs across multidisciplinary mining and industrial projects, contributing to the preparation of calculations, drawings, and technical specifications while collaborating closely with mechanical, civil, and process engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply a solid understanding of Engineering principles to devise and deliver practical and economical solutions to problems
  • Work alongside Senior and Lead Engineers for small, medium and large-scale projects. This will include: participating in cost estimates, tender submissions, technical documentation, project scheduling and meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • Working effectively with other design disciplines, e.g. electrical, mechanical.
  • Ensuring engineering activities are performed in accordance with the project requirements and Primero's technical standards.
  • Ensure that all regulatory and legislative requirements are met in all instances.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and demonstrate your personal commitment to safety to ensure that all activities embrace Primero`s goal of "zero harm".
  • Assist Project Managers with appropriate project resources, both quantity and skill sets, to undertake all contracted works professionally.
  • Actively promote and continuously communicate on the best engineering practices both in the project, the broader business and the marketplace.
  • Develop, improve and implement review mechanisms to capture and execute improvements to the quality of work produced.
  • Experience in civil works is an asset.

What We're Looking For: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) licence required (Utah preferred; any U.S. state licence will be considered).
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience in mining, mineral processing, or hydrocarbons.
  • Solid knowledge of industry codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of structural design theories, principles, and calculations.
  • Proficiency with design and analysis software and ability to interpret multidisciplinary engineering drawings (mechanical, piping, equipment, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to assimilate client and project requirements quickly and accurately.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple priorities.
  • High commitment to safety, quality, schedule, and budget control.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and motivated with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
