Job Description Summary
Organization's Summary Statement:
University Relations is implementing Salesforce CRM as part of a multi-year advancement and data modernization initiative. To support the long-term stability, scalability, and extensibility of the Salesforce platform following implementation, University Relations requires a Salesforce Developer to provide hands-on custom development and integration expertise.
The Salesforce Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining custom Salesforce solutions, including Apex code, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and Salesforce-side integration components. This role focuses on extending Salesforce capabilities beyond declarative configuration, supporting integrations, and stabilizing custom logic delivered by implementation partners.
In addition to hands-on development responsibilities, this role provides technical leadership and direct supervision of the Salesforce Administrator, coordinating declarative configuration and custom development efforts to ensure alignment with overall architecture standards and best practices. The Salesforce Developer must also be prepared to assume Salesforce Administrator responsibilities during the Administrator's scheduled or unscheduled absences (including military reserve training, extended leave, or other planned coverage periods) to ensure continuity of platform operations, user support, and business-critical processes.
The position reports to the Director of Data Management and works in close partnership with Salesforce Administrators, Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and business stakeholders. Declarative configuration, platform governance, and day-to-day administration remain the responsibility of the Salesforce Administrator; this role provides custom development and technical implementation support aligned with established architecture and governance standards.

-Familiarity with Salesforce data modeling, objects, relationships, and schema design.
-Experience with Salesforce data management tools and mass data operations.
-Knowledge of the Salesforce security model, including profiles, permission sets, sharing rules, roles, and field-level security.
-Experience with Salesforce DX (SFDX) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Copado, Gearset, or native tooling).
-Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
-Experience providing technical guidance, coverage, and/or supervision for junior developers or administrators.
-Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
-Experience working with or developing for Salesforce managed packages used in advancement, particularly Kindsight Ascend.
-Experience refactoring or stabilizing code delivered by implementation partners or consultants.
-Experience working in higher education, non-profit, or advancement/fundraising environments.
-Experience integrating with Azure platform.
-Salesforce Platform Developer II
