Position Summaryย 

The Director of Ecommerce Engineering is a technology leader responsible for delivering secure, scalable, reliable, and high-performing digital commerce solutions that enable exceptional customer experiences and support Hanna Andersson's long-term growth.ย 

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this role leads the ecommerce engineering organization throughย peopleย leadership, technical stewardship, operational excellence, and cross-functional partnership. The Director is accountable for building high-performing engineering teams, delivering strategic initiatives, modernizing the commerce platform, and ensuring technology investments align with businessย objectives.ย 

The Director will lead the evolution of Hanna's commerce ecosystemย -ย including Salesforce Commerce Cloud, headless commerce, payment platforms, customer data capabilitiesย and CRM, AI-enabled engineering practices,ย OMS,ย product informationย mangement,ย POS,ย and future omnichannel initiativesย -ย while driving continuous improvement in engineering quality, delivery, reliability, and operational efficiency.ย 

This is a full-time, exempt position. The role may be remote or hybrid based on business needs and requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams. The Director is expected to support critical production events, peak business periods, and high-priority initiatives while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

What You'll Do:

Engineering Leadership & Organizational Healthย 

  • Build, lead, coach, andย retainย a high-performing engineering organizationย of 1-4 scrum teams,ย through hiring, mentoring, performance management, career development, andย contracting.ย ย 
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation,ย quality ofย craft, continuous learning, and operational excellence.ย 
  • Establish clear expectations,ย monitorย organizational health, and ensure the team has the skills, capacity, and engagement necessary to meet businessย objectives.ย 
  • Work closely with other IT leadersย acrossย Infrastructure, Data, Technical,ย Operationsย and Infosec to ensureย platforms, integrations, and services meet enterprise standards for security, reliability, scalability, performance, and operational excellence.

Delivery Execution & Engineering Operationsย 

  • Own delivery of the ecommerce engineering roadmap, ensuring predictable execution of strategic initiatives, releases, operational priorities, and production support.ย 
  • Manage priorities, dependencies, risks, resourcing, and release readiness while improving delivery quality, transparency, and predictability.ย 
  • Continuouslyย improveย engineering operating practices, including Agile delivery, SDLC, QA, DevOps, CI/CD, release management, incident response, and operational support.ย 
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to assess team and stack performance and use data-driven insights to inform decisions.ย 

Technical Leadership & Platform Stewardshipย 

  • Provide technical leadership across ecommerce applications, integrations, architecture, and platform modernization initiatives.ย 
  • Establish engineering standards that promote scalability, maintainability,ย extendabilityย and performance.ย 
  • Work with cross functional teams toย build inย security, accessibility,ย andย reliability, and long-term platform health.ย 
  • Champion the long-term health of Hanna's ecommerce technology ecosystem byย establishingย technical direction, architecture, and governanceย that enable efficient sustainable growth and operational excellence.ย 
  • Lead modernization of Hanna's commerce ecosystem, including Salesforce Commerce Cloud, composable commerce, APIs, integrations, cloud services, and supporting technologies.ย 

Platform Reliability & Customer Experienceย 

  • Ensure the availability, scalability, security, and performance of customer-facing ecommerce platforms.ย 
  • Proactively prepare systems for seasonal peaks, product launches, and other high-volume events while minimizing operational risk and customer impact.ย 
  • Partner across engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to continuously improve monitoring, resiliency, incident management, and operational maturity.ย 

Cross-Functional Leadershipย 

  • Partner withย Program Management,ย Product,ย UX,ย Ecommerce, Marketing, Merchandising, Customer Experience, Operations, Distribution, Finance, and Information Systems to translate business strategy into technology execution.ย 
  • Build trusted relationships across the organization, communicate technical tradeoffs clearly, and ensure engineering serves as a strategic business partner.ย 
  • Drive alignment across stakeholders through effective planning, governance, communication, and transparent reporting.ย 

Technology Strategy, Innovation & AIย 

  • Evaluate emerging technologies andย identifyย opportunities to improve customer experience, engineering productivity, and business performance.ย 
  • Champion responsible adoption of AI across engineering,ย leveragingย modern tools to improve software development, testing, documentation, operational efficiency, and developer effectiveness whileย maintainingย appropriate governanceย and quality standards.ย 
  • Support the evolution of Hanna's digital capabilities, including personalization, search, fulfillment, customer data, and future omnichannel experiences.ย 

Vendor, Financial & Platform Stewardshipย 

  • Lead strategic relationships with technology vendors, implementation partners, and managed service providers.ย 
  • Support platformย selection, contract negotiations, renewals, budgeting, and technology investment decisions whileย optimizingย cost, value, scalability, and long-term maintainability.ย 
  • Ensure third-party partners meet delivery expectations, technical standards, security requirements, and service commitments.ย 

Strategic Programs & Special Projectsย 

  • Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives beyond day-to-day engineering operations, including platform modernization, enterprise integrations, organizational transformation, and executive-sponsored technology programs.ย 
  • Partner across customer experience, brand marketing, payments, finance, operations, and fulfillment experience initiatives to deliver integrated business capabilities.ย 
You Should Have:

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilitiesย 

  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing software engineering organizations.ย 
  • Extensive experience delivering customer-facing ecommerce platforms and digital commerce solutions.ย 
  • Strong understanding of modern ecommerce architectures, includingย headless or composable commerce platforms,ย Salesforce Commerce Cloud,ย APIs, cloud technologies, integrations, and microservices.ย 
  • Experience integrating ecommerce platforms with payment,ย merchandising,ย product andย pricing/promotionย systems,ย CRM, OMS,ย fulfillment, and customer engagement technologies.ย 
  • Strong knowledge of Agile delivery, DevOps, CI/CD, software quality, observability, security, and engineering best practices.ย 
  • Experience applying AI-enabled engineering tools and automation to improve software delivery, quality, and operational effectiveness.ย

Education & Qualificationsย 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.ย 
  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including enterprise ecommerce platforms.ย 
  • 5+ years leading engineering teams, managers, or technical organizations.ย 
  • Experience within retail, direct-to-consumer, apparel, consumer products, or similar digital commerce environments preferred.ย 
  • Experience leading platform modernization, enterprise systems integration, or digital transformation initiatives strongly preferred.ย 
$190,000 - $220,000 a year
