Job description

Eagle Materials Inc. is a leading US manufacturer of basic construction materials that are used in residential, commercial, industrial, infrastructure and energy applications.
Our manufactured products are 100% US-produced - cement, wallboard, paperboard, concrete, and aggregates.

We are seeking an experienced individual in the construction lines of business of our manufactured products.
$70,000 to $80,000 based on education and experience.

Summary
Reporting directly to the Regional VP Sales and Marketing, this developmental position is aimed at preparing the individual for a future assignment, within the Eagle network, as a Territory Sales Manager or Technical Services Manager. This process is expected to take approximately 12 months and concludes when the new position is offered. During the training period the individual will be exposed to Eagle strategies and tactics for technical support, troubleshooting, promotional and sales and marketing. The position will be based in the Kansas City market; however, travel is expected to occur regularly throughout the Eagle network. Ideally, the candidate's experience will grow and be able to support, at some level, our customers and sales & operations teams during this period.
Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the Eagle Code of Ethics and Anti-Trust policy.
  • Demonstrate skills related to safety and quality of work.
  • Ensure all employees adhere to the Safety policy and report any safety concern.
  • Must maintain general knowledge, insight to the market and customers within each sales region along with the products that serve each market including admixtures, SCMs, competitive cements and aggregates.
  • Assist the VP Sales and Marketing in developing strategic sales plans for relevant market areas and assist the sales team to implement the operative plan derived from the strategy.
  • Develop relationships with sales and operations personnel relevant to accomplishing regional objectives including positioning products with regulators and actively participating in the annual competitive testing program
  • Support and develop opportunities in the market, cross selling to current customers and introducing new product offerings.
  • Support KPI's for the region.
  • Support the Eagle Concrete Academy in preparation and execution.
  • Prepare various technical and marketing reports and spreadsheets for Management.
  • Execute special projects as directed by the VP Sales and Marketing.
  • Become familiar with the Insight sales tool other associated applications and support the Territory Sales Managers.
  • Individual will participate in multiple aspects of Eagle's departments and businesses - including cement plant operations, cement laboratory, cement sales process, concrete and aggregate business and the concrete laboratory.
  • Other responsibilities will be assigned based upon adjustments to the strategic plan and annual budget.
  • Participate in relevant industry associations, including training programs
  • Work somewhat independently in knowledge development. Attend educational courses as identified and summarize and apply learnings.
  • When directed, play a support role investigating and resolving customer issues, problems and concerns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Gain the experience and knowledge required to qualify for a Territory Sales Manager and/or Technical Services Manager within the Eagle footprint.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, construction industry or equivalent experience.
  • General knowledge of concrete and its constituents and applications.
  • Ability to grow within the organization
  • Good technical knowledge, hardware and software, Proficiency in MS office is required (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate reports.
  • Ability to develop technical, marketing and strategy documents.
  • Excellent presenting, written and verbal communication skills to effectively work with customers and staff.
  • Willingness to gain industry knowledge (aggregates, cement, ready mix, etc.)
  • Flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency for the area of responsibility.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a concrete laboratory environment
  • Must be willing to relocate for this and the subsequent position
