Compensation: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour, depending on experience

Job Summary

The Sales Support role assists with daily sales and office operations by supporting Sales Representatives, providing backup coverage at the front counter, and assisting with administrative and operational tasks across departments as needed.


This position plays an important role in ensuring efficient communication with customers, accurate order processing, and coordination between sales, inventory, and operational teams. Sales Support helps maintain smooth front office operations while supporting customer service and sales activities throughout the nursery.


Essential Functions

  • Answer incoming phone calls, transfer calls to appropriate staff, and respond to basic customer inquiries.
  • Support the Sales Team by preparing estimates, entering orders, and assisting with customer follow-up as needed.
  • Provide backup coverage for the front counter, including greeting customers, answering phones, and assisting with general customer inquiries.
  • Assist management with cross-departmental projects and operational initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall business operations.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Accompany customers to the yard to inspect plant material and support product selection when needed.
  • Review incoming plant shipments and organize orders for sales representatives pending delivery.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to resolve plant material quality issues or order discrepancies.
  • Complete customer requests for product photos, specifications, and plant information.
  • Support inventory management activities including printing plant labels, assisting with stock counts, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Provide temporary coverage for Sales Representatives during absences to maintain customer service and sales continuity.
  • Perform cash handling tasks including processing transactions, issuing receipts, and reconciling cash drawers during register closeout.
  • Monitor office supply levels and reorder supplies through approved vendors as needed.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is a full-time onsite position located at a nursery office and yard environment. Work-from-home options are not available.


This role requires frequent movement between indoor office environments and outdoor nursery yard areas throughout the workday.


Indoor work involves sitting or standing for extended periods while performing administrative and computer-based tasks. Frequent typing and use of a 10-key may be required.


Outdoor work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven ground surfaces, and environmental elements including dust, pollen, moisture, odors, and seasonal allergens.


Physical requirements include:

  • Frequent walking throughout the nursery yard.
  • Bending, twisting, turning, and squatting when assisting with plant material or yard activities.
  • Use of hands and fingers for computer work and handling plant material.
  • Occasional lifting of 20–30 lbs when assisting with plant material or operational tasks.
