What does a sales representative intern do?

A Sales Representative Intern assists the sales team by learning about the company’s products or services, identifying potential customers, and supporting the sales process. Typical duties include researching leads, making introductory calls or emails, helping prepare presentations, and maintaining customer records. Interns gain hands-on experience in sales techniques, customer relationship management, and often participate in meetings or training sessions. This role is designed to provide practical skills and industry knowledge for those interested in a sales career.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a sales representative intern?

To thrive as a Sales Representative Intern, you need strong communication skills, a basic understanding of sales principles, and often an undergraduate pursuit in business or related fields. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software like Salesforce and proficiency in office productivity tools are commonly expected. Active listening, resilience, and a positive attitude are standout soft skills that help build rapport with clients and adapt to feedback. These skills are crucial for effectively supporting sales processes, building relationships, and contributing to team targets in a competitive environment.
