Job description

The Optiv Event Internship Program is a paid experiential learning opportunity designed to help emerging talent build professional skills while supporting Optiv's regional event and marketing activities. As an Optiv Event Intern, you will work alongside regional marketing teams to help plan, coordinate, execute, and recap client-facing events, field programs, and community engagement activities in the Toronto market.

This internship is ideal for university students or early-career professionals interested in marketing, business, communications, event management, technology, or cybersecurity. Interns gain hands-on experience, mentorship, leadership exposure, and a clearer understanding of career pathways within Optiv and the broader cybersecurity industry.

How you'll make an impact

  • Support regional marketing events, customer programs, partner activities, and community engagement efforts in Toronto, Canada.

  • Assist with registration management, guest communications, event timelines, attendee reports, name badges, signage, swag, shipping, and materials preparation.

  • Provide on-site or virtual event support, including guest check-in, attendee assistance, room setup, hospitality support, survey collection, and session support

  • Help capture event content such as photos, social media moments, field LinkedIn updates, and promotional highlights when appropriate.

  • Assist with post-event follow-up, including attendance tracking, survey reporting, event recap preparation, thank-you communications, and lessons learned documentation.

  • Maintain accurate records, checklists, registration details, attendee lists, receipts, budget notes, and proof-of-performance documentation.

  • Collaborate with regional marketing, sales, operations, creative, finance, vendors, sponsors, and community partners to keep event workstreams moving forward.

  • Participate in professional development sessions focused on cybersecurity, event marketing, business communication, personal branding, and career exploration.

  • Engage with mentors and Optiv leaders to learn about careers in cybersecurity, technology, marketing, sales, consulting, client success, and business operations.

What we're looking for

  • A university student, or early-career candidate, with interest in business, marketing, communications, event management, technology, or cybersecurity.

  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage details, deadlines, checklists, and follow-ups while balancing school or other commitments.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, a professional attitude, and comfort working with internal teams and external guests.

  • Attention to detail when working with registration lists, spreadsheets, event materials, budgets, surveys, and documentation.

  • Curiosity, reliability, coachability, and a willingness to learn new systems, workplace processes, and marketing tools.

  • Ability to collaborate respectfully with marketing, sales, operations, finance, creative teams, vendors, sponsors, mentors, and Optiv leaders.

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Must be age of majority - age 19 in Ontario, given third party venue admission requirements.

  • Current or planned studies in marketing, communications, business administration, hospitality, event management, cybersecurity, information systems, public relations, or related fields.

  • Experience through school organizations, volunteer work, internships, retail, hospitality, administration, sales support, community programs, or event coordination.

  • Familiarity with event registration platforms, marketing automation tools, CRM systems, project management tools, or expense systems is helpful but not required.

  • Interest in learning how professional events are planned, promoted, executed, measured, and improved.

  • Interest in B2B marketing, customer engagement, partner programs, cybersecurity, technology, or future career pathways at Optiv.

  • Light lifting (up to 15 lbs) may be required for event materials, marketing collateral, or office supplies.

  • If attending off-site events or photoshoots, the role may involve short periods of standing, walking, or carrying promotional items.

Salary Range Description

$39,400.00 - $52,300.00 Annual

The Hiring Range provided for this role is informed by (but not limited to) various factors including responsibilities of the position, work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, geography, as well as other market influences when extending an offer. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for these factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a variable incentive-based bonus plan.
