Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Under moderate direction, supports the development and communication of compensation policies, processes and programs. Trains management on policies and procedures related to compensation. Ensures associate compensation is competitive and reasonable throughout the organization. May train less experienced professionals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Completes annual salary surveys and ensures market pricing tool is updated with current information. Performs periodic systems maintenance of market pricing tool.
  • Performs compensation analysis to determine if salaries are in line with national average, and makes recommendations to own management regarding associate group(s) that may require market adjustments. Annually reviews and updates current pay structures.
  • Reviews and approves salary offers for new hires.
  • Conducts job evaluations on new or changing jobs to appropriately assess roles using market value, internal equity and organizational mission. May lead or complete major portions of job architecture/leveling projects.
  • Develops and writes job descriptions to accurately describe job content. Recommends proper FLSA classifications for each job. Performs periodic systems maintenance of job description tool.
  • Administers the annual associate bonus, merit and promotion increase processes, including developing and executing communications, monitoring the pay allocation process, obtaining required approvals and ensuring that the process follows all company and legal compliance requirements. Recommends and implements improvements to processes after each cycle.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of general compensation and sales incentive plans.
  • Completes assigned tasks related to group projects, and may play a lead role in some projects.
  • May assist in the preparation of the local labor budget for approval.
  • May train and/or act as an advisor to less experienced professionals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, finance or related field
  • 3+ Years of Related Experience
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong familiarity with federal, state and local pay laws and regulations
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience with HRIS and market pricing systems
  • Strong analytical skills, with an ability to gather, analyze and summarize compensation data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills. Ability to communicate with internal and external customers on issues of moderate to considerable importance, up to and including senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain relationships with an ability to work as part of a cross functional team
  • Strong customer service skills. Ability to promote and support a service-oriented environment
  • Good negotiation skills. Ability to defend position strongly while keenly aware of the need to maximize benefits for all sides
  • Good project management skills, including identifying and scheduling process steps, determining resources and staff required to successfully complete assigned projects or project steps and reporting on project milestones
  • Ability to apply process improvement planning and checking to own work output and to assist others with identifying gaps in work results
