About SURMOUNT

SURMOUNT is a leading commercial real estate services and investment platform with a nationally recognized presence in the net lease sector. Through its integrated platform, SURMOUNT provides investment sales, capital markets, lease advisory, development, and principal investment capabilities to clients across the country. SURMOUNT's Institutional Coverage Group ("ICG") is focused on developing and expanding relationships with institutional commercial real estate owners, investors, operators, developers, and other strategic clients across the firm's platform.

Position Overview

SURMOUNT is seeking a highly motivated Sales Associate to join its Institutional Coverage Group ("ICG"). This is a sales and business development role focused on proactive prospecting, developing new relationships, and generating qualified meetings with prospective institutional and sophisticated commercial real estate clients.

The Sales Associate will be responsible for identifying prospective clients and key decision-makers, building and maintaining a robust prospect database, conducting high-volume outbound outreach (100+ calls a day), and securing qualified introductory meetings for senior members of the Institutional Coverage Group.

This position is designed for an individual who is highly motivated, persistent, organized, and comfortable with proactive sales outreach. The ideal candidate will enjoy building relationships, working toward measurable goals, and operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct consistent, high-volume outbound prospecting including approximately 100+ calls and emails a day to prospective clients and key decision makers
  • Identify and research prospective institutional commercial real estate clients across targeted industries, ownership groups, and markets
  • Build, maintain, and continuously expand a comprehensive database of prospective clients, companies, and key decision-makers
  • Develop a strong understanding of SURMOUNT's capabilities and effectively communicate the firm's value proposition to prospective clients
  • Qualify prospective clients and business opportunities based on established Institutional Coverage Group criteria
  • Generate and schedule qualified introductory meetings for senior members of the Institutional Coverage Group
  • Coordinate internally to ensure senior coverage professionals are properly prepared for prospect meetings and have relevant background information
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of prospecting activity, conversations, follow-up items, meetings, and opportunities within the firm's CRM
  • Conduct ongoing research to identify new companies, ownership groups, portfolios, transactions, and other potential business development opportunities
  • Consistently follow up with prospective clients to develop relationships and convert initial outreach into meetings, pitches, and potential engagements
  • Track and report against established activity and performance metrics, including outreach volume, new contacts, qualified prospects, meetings generated, and resulting business opportunities
  • Collaborate with members of the Institutional Coverage Group and SURMOUNT's broader Brokerage, Advisory, Capital Markets, Development, and Principal Investment teams to identify and pursue potential opportunities

Participate in ongoing sales and commercial real estate training and professional development

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in sales, business development, commercial real estate, financial services, or another high-volume client-facing environment preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in sales, business development, commercial real estate, investing, or financial services
  • Comfortable conducting significant proactive outbound calling and prospecting on a daily basis
  • Resilient, persistent, and competitive, with the ability to remain motivated and productive in a high-volume outbound sales environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional telephone presence
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and disciplined follow-through
  • Ability to independently manage a large volume of prospects and ongoing follow-up activity
  • Strong research skills and intellectual curiosity
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CRM platforms and prospecting tools preferred

Location

This is a remote position, with the ability to work from locations throughout the United States. Candidates must have the ability to work effectively and independently in a remote environment and maintain consistent availability during normal business hours.

Compensation

The base salary for this position starts at $50,000 annually, with actual compensation determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related considerations. The position is also eligible for performance-based bonus compensation based on achievement of individual and team business development objectives. This position is not structured as a traditional commission-based brokerage role.
