The Sales Associate is responsible for profitably selling merchandise and delivering an exceptional in-store experience to Montana Supply customers.

Position Overview

The Sales Associate is anon-exempt, hourly full-time seasonal position responsible for profitably selling merchandise and facilitating an exceptional in-store experience for Montana Supply customers. This role reports directly to Supervisors, including the Sales Manager, Assistant Sales Manager and Sales Leaders.


Primary Duties


The responsibilities of a Retail Sales Associate are divided into three main categories:

1. Customer Service (80%)

  • Greet customers professionally and courteously.
  • Memorize store policies, current promotions, and events.
  • Provide accurate information regarding merchandise, store policies, and local insights; escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Engage with customers using product knowledge and active listening.
  • Stay updated on new product releases, floor layout, and inventory.
  • Operate cash registers accurately.
  • Execute trained up-selling techniques.
  • Communicate outstanding customer transactions or needs to Supervisors at shift end or before breaks.

2. Operations (15%)

  • Coordinate with Store Manager, Shift Leaders, and team members on sales goals and floor management.
  • Report any technical or operational issues.
  • Complete Opening, Closing, and Daily Task Sheets.
  • Maintain sales floor appearance per merchandising standards.
  • Restock products and support additional tasks delegated by Supervisors.

3. Sales Skill Development (5%)

  • Apply newly learned sales techniques during customer interactions.
  • Continue training via the Lightspeed Retail POS Skills Sheet.
