Job description

Our client is looking for a Controller to lead financial operations and provide strong fiscal guidance for our team in Riverside, California. This position plays a central role in maintaining accurate reporting, strengthening internal controls, and supporting sound business decisions across the organization. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach to accounting, a solid background in manufacturing finance, and the ability to manage deadlines while partnering with operational leadership.


Responsibilities:

• Partner with senior leadership to support the company’s financial direction and contribute insight that improves overall business performance.

• Establish, monitor, and refine internal control practices to protect company assets, support compliance obligations, and ensure reliable financial reporting.

• Deliver accurate financial reports to divisional and corporate leadership, including monthly results, forecasts, year-end materials, and other required analyses within established timelines.

• Oversee monthly and annual close activities, preparing financial statements and all related schedules needed for complete and timely reporting.

• Manage accounts receivable activities by supervising billing, applying incoming payments, and following up on outstanding balances.

• Handle daily treasury-related tasks such as preparing bank deposits and reconciling accounts payable check activity.

• Ensure payroll is processed correctly each week and that related tax, sales tax, and remittance obligations are submitted on time.

• Coordinate internal and external audit activities and assist with physical inventory count planning and execution.

• Lead cost accounting efforts to support accurate job costing, improve reporting visibility, and help the business evaluate overhead, indirect costs, and profitability.

• Build working knowledge of the company’s proprietary ERP platform and maintain a strong understanding of day-to-day operational processes across the organization.

• At least 5 years of accounting or finance experience, ideally within a manufacturing setting.
• Proven experience with job costing in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, month-end close, year-end close, and internal controls.
• Hands-on experience managing accounts receivable, collections, payroll processing, and related financial reporting.
• Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and preparation of annual audited financial statements.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred; an accounting designation is a plus.
• Clear English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in a hands-on environment.
