Accounting Manager ((Big 4 or Public Accounting Experience Required))


A growing, founder-led midstream energy company in Houston is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join their team. This is a broad, high-visibility role reporting directly to the CFO, with day-to-day ownership across accounting operations, financial reporting, tax, and technical accounting. Ideal for someone coming out of public accounting who wants direct exposure to leadership and room to grow as the company scales.

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee AP, AR, vendor management, and the company payment card program
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process using Sage Intacct
  • Prepare journal entries, reconcile the general ledger, and manage fixed assets accounting
  • Support tax compliance, including federal partnership tax, sales/use tax, and property tax coordination
  • Support quarterly and annual regulatory filings (FERC, Railroad Commission of Texas)
  • Assess and apply new accounting standards, support technical accounting projects
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and audit support
  • Coach and develop two direct reports, including goal-setting and performance reviews


What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, public accounting background strongly preferred (Big 4 or large regional firm, Manager-level in audit/assurance a plus)
  • Experience with accounting systems
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Self-starter, strong multitasker, excellent communicator
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience a plus
  • Industry (oil & gas or similar) accounting experience a plus
