Job description

Software Engineer 3 (Multiple Positions)
Job Description:
Design and develop Costco Travel's in-house travel booking software applications. Work on Costco Travel's travel portal which allows Costco members to book car rentals, vacation packages, hotels, and cruises. Collaborate on requirement analysis, project planning and scheduling, estimating the tasks, and defining project milestones. Provide software design solutions and enforce application development guidelines and best practices. Organize and lead sprint planning activities as well as prioritize project tasks and assign them to the appropriate team members. Leverage education and professional experience to coach and mentor developers to drive operational efficiencies and technical growth within the team. Collaborate with other teams as needed to ensure the company's technical directions and standards are followed. Support deployment activities into production as per the release calendar and work closely with the software testing team in clarifying test scenarios and test cases. Telecommuting permitted up to 40% within the same MSA.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Experience: Three years of experience in:
    • Designing and developing client/server models and/or web-based applications using Java Enterprise Editions technologies (such as Servlet, Java Server Pages, or Spring);
    • Designing and developing database technologies with Java Database Connectivity or an equivalent data-tier framework to connect to relational databases or No-SQL databases;
    • Using relational databases (such as MS-SQL Server or T-SQL) to create and modify tables, algorithms, data structures, stored procedures, and other database functions;
    • Front-end development using React, Javascript, JQuery, HTML, CSS;
    • Developing Microservices and developing REST-ful services using Java technologies like Spring Boot or Jersey;
    • Developing unit-testing using JUnit and JMockit;
    • Developing for continuous integration and continuous deployment environments using Jenkins;
    • Using Git to create and review pull requests;
    • Analyzing error logs in Splunk, creating dashboards, and tracking code quality; and
    • Developing software for the IT travel industry and Online Travel Agent systems, in accordance with Open Travel Alliance (OTA) standards.
