Job description

A growing Underground Infrastructure Contractor is hiring a Water/Wastewater Superintendent to lead field crews on trenchless rehabilitation projects in the Buffalo, NY metro area. This role oversees cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining, sewer cleaning and CCTV inspection, manhole rehabilitation, and bypass pumping operations. The Water/Wastewater Superintendent serves as the primary field leader responsible for safety, production, crew development, and client relationships on active job sites.

Key Responsibilities – Water/Wastewater Superintendent

  • Manage all day-to-day field operations on trenchless rehabilitation projects including CIPP installation, pipe cleaning, CCTV inspection, manhole rehabilitation, and bypass pumping. Enforce OSHA safety compliance and the site-specific safety plan at all times.
  • Direct field crew assignments and coordinate personnel across project sites. Develop and maintain construction schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager to ensure earned value targets and critical path milestones are met.
  • Lead pre-construction activities including site surveys, staging plans, and project start-up meetings. Communicate daily progress, issues, and resource needs to the Project Manager and General Superintendent.
  • Ensure all quality benchmarks, inspections, and as-built documentation are completed, approved, and communicated to the project team. Maintain drawing logs and revision records.
  • Coach and train field personnel on CIPP installation methods, sewer cleaning techniques, CCTV operation, manhole coating systems, and bypass setup. Build a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications – Water/Wastewater Superintendent

  • 5+ years of field leadership experience as a General Foreman or Superintendent in water, wastewater, or underground utility construction
  • Working knowledge of one or more trenchless disciplines: CIPP lining, sewer cleaning and CCTV inspection, manhole rehabilitation, or bypass pumping
  • Ability and willingness to learn additional trenchless rehabilitation methods beyond current experience
  • Ability to read construction drawings, plans, and blueprints
  • Confined Space Entry certification and OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred

Preferred Qualifications – Trenchless Rehabilitation Superintendent

  • NASSCO PACP, MACP, or LACP certification, or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
  • Experience with UV-cure or steam-cure CIPP installation methods
  • Familiarity with pipe bursting, slip lining, or other no-dig renewal technologies
  • Prior experience managing municipal water and sewer rehabilitation contracts
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus

Physical Requirements – Water/Wastewater Superintendent

  • Work is performed on active construction job sites with regular exposure to outdoor elements, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Travel to project sites within the region is required; overnight travel of 50% or more should be expected depending on project locations
  • Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday with evening and weekend hours required to meet project demands
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
