Job description

The Coordinator of Liturgy and Music is responsible for music and liturgy planning for all liturgical celebrations at the motherhouse of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana (Archdiocese of Indianapolis); the preparation of cantors and other musicians; and all administrative functions associated with the position. The Coordinator works closely with the Administrative Assistant of Liturgy and Music, liturgy office volunteers, the Sisters of Providence chaplain, the liturgy committee and a liaison from the congregational leadership team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinates planning and staffing of all motherhouse worship.
  • Coordinates planning for congregation celebrations (jubilees, professions, annual meetings, chapters, etc.).
  • Coordinates recruitment, assessment, training, scheduling, continuing education and catechesis for liturgical ministers.
  • Works collaboratively with musicians from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and other individuals and/or groups participating in events in the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
  • Maintains personal musicianship through regular rehearsal.
  • Coordinates preparation and printing of daily, weekly, seasonal and sacramental worship aids.
  • Prepares and manages the liturgy department budget.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with music/liturgical preparations and catechesis for Roman Catholic liturgies; experience with religious congregations helpful.
  • Proficiency in organ, piano or vocal music preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic music notation software.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • BA or MA in music or liturgy desired; parish or diocesan experience preferred.
  • Experience with religious communities helpful, as well as with an aging population.
  • Experience with liturgical music and preparation/planning for the assembly.
COMPENSATION
  • Full-time exempt position, 40 hours per week with flexible hours (weekends and holydays required).
  • Salary range: $55,000–$70,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
