Senior Automation Programmer

Job description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer with 5–8 years of experience in PLC, OIT, and HMI programming to join our team. This role will focus on designing, programming, and integrating advanced control systems across diverse industries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to lead projects from programming through startup, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, program, and integrate control systems, including PLC, OIT, HMI, reporting, and alarming software.
  • Design and implement PLC, OIT, and SCADA system programs.
  • Perform troubleshooting and provide technical support for field control systems and process equipment.
  • Independently conduct system startups and commissioning activities.
  • Review and interpret control panel drawings, network diagrams, and I/O lists; identify and suggest corrections as needed.
  • Collaborate in QC reviews, providing feedback related to programming best practices and philosophies.
  • Prepare documentation and provide standard reports on project progress to the Programming Manager.
  • Support peers and mentor junior team members where appropriate.


Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in PLC/OIT/HMI programming or related automation engineering roles.
  • Advanced proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text).
  • Hands-on experience with HMI software; SCADA knowledge strongly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines within budget.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both colleagues and clients.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
