ROCKWOOL is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join our Group Technology team! This position requires travel of 60%, both internationally and nationally, and the ability to relocate for extended time periods to project sites.

You'll have the opportunity to work on projects for extended periods of time in the U.S., Canada, Europe and/or Asia. You'll be instrumental in the planning and implementation of our new factory in Wallula, WA.

What You Will Be Doing

You'll be instrumental in the delivery of mechanical and plumbing utilities to ensure that all buildings, and all process equipment demand for utilities are fulfilled. This includes supply strategy, dimensioning and back-up considerations.

You'll work with design, installation, commissioning, and running-in of major projects, including that all equipment within the factory are supplied where required including: main utility supply strategy, tank requirements and installations, pump supply, dimensioning and redundancy (back-up supply) considerations.

As expert and provider of design solutions, we look for your expertise:

  • Take full responsibility for design and construction activities within the scope area described below:
    • Compressed air
    • Water: Industrial, machine cooling, sanitary, potable, water treatment (RO)
    • Rainwater collection, treatment and re-use (soil, surface and groundwater protection MMR - Minimum Mandatory Requirement RW group policies)
    • Erosion & Sedimentation - storm water management (coordination with contractor)
    • Fire safety supply - living up to the FLPM (Fire & Loss Prevention Manual) with use of oxygen suppression systems
    • Oxygen and CO2, Natural gas
    • HVAC
    • Stacks, cranes, hoists and other special parts
  • Ensure that the necessary expertise from other departments - environment, safety, Minimum Mandatory Requirements (MMR)'s, are included in the solutions
  • Communicate and supervisesuppliers/contractorsto place orders and follow up to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Ensure all documentation / reporting is done and archived following company directives and Group Technology rules, and available tools
  • Substantial travel inside and outside of North America is to be expected for project execution, supplier visits, coordination, etc.
  • Partake in budgeting and the development of tender material for suppliers
  • Adhere to company's code of conduct / values while always representing company

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering or similar
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Project Management is preferred
  • 10+ years working in a similar position, with site installation, mechanical design, construction, design specifications of industrial facilities
  • Project execution records in large scale projects is preferred
  • Working experience with multinational teams and stakeholders is an asset
  • 3D modelling using Navisworks, Revit or a similar program
  • Ability to travel both nationally and internationally 60% of the time
  • Extended periods of presence at project sites is required, i.e. temporary relocation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Adhere to confidentiality with proprietary processes
  • Preference given to candidates who have , welding, mechanic or other type of craftsman expertise

The base salary range for this position is $115,000.00 - 135,000.00. Your base salary is determined based on location, experience and the pay of employees in similar positions.
