Responsibilities
Overview:
The Commercial Lines Producer serves as a true hunter and front-line revenue driver for CBIZ, responsible for generating net-new business and expanding market presence. This individual owns the full sales cycle from prospecting to close, leveraging a highly proactive, business development mindset to build a strong pipeline and secure new client partnerships. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in B2B commercial sales, thrives in a competitive environment, and demonstrates the ability to influence decision-makers while delivering tailored risk management and insurance solutions.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties
  • Drive new business revenue by executing a full-cycle sales approach, including:
  • Cold calling and outbound prospecting
    • Discovery and consultative sales conversations
    • Setting and leading client appointments
    • Negotiating terms and closing deals
  • Consistently achieve or exceed annual new revenue and production goals
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified commercial prospects through:
    • Personal networks and referrals
    • Centers of influence (COIs)
    • Internal partnerships and cross-sell opportunities
    • Marketing and lead generation initiatives
  • Position CBIZ as a trusted advisor by delivering consultative, solution-based recommendations tailored to clients' commercial risk and insurance needs
  • Develop and cultivate executive-level relationships with key decision-makers across target organizations
  • Effectively track all sales activity, pipeline progression, and client interactions within Salesforce
  • Utilize and adapt to Sagitta (preferred) or other P&C agency management systems to support sales and transition processes
  • Close new business with a strong sense of urgency; document outcomes, including won/lost opportunities and key drivers
  • Lead seamless handoff of new clients to the client service team while maintaining strategic oversight of the relationship
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver an exceptional client experience and identify cross-selling opportunities across CBIZ service lines
  • Provide market intelligence to leadership, including competitive insights, pricing trends, and emerging opportunities
  • Maintain a disciplined, self-driven approach to prospecting, pipeline management, and personal production growth

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Active Property & Casualty (P&C) License required or ability to obtain
  • Proven success in B2B commercial sales, ideally within insurance brokerage or related professional services
  • Experience using Salesforce
  • Experience with Sagitta or similar P&C agency management systems (preferred)

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Some relevant industry experience
  • Must obtain required licenses/credentials
  • Superior command of verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
