Job Summary
Performs various duties essential to the operation of a dairy-based, natural gas production facility which utilizes mechanical and biological systems to process cow manure into renewable natural gas (RNG). This facility uses mechanical and biological systems, including pumps, compressors, digesters, dryers, and gas processing equipment.
As a Plant Technician you will work directly with experienced mechanics to keep facility equipment clean, functional, and safe. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting with equipment inspections, performing basic repairs, cleaning and organizing tools and workspaces, and helping with routine maintenance tasks. You will also support material handling and documentation of work performed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs all duties in a manner that is safe, compliant, and efficient as well as productive.
  • Assists mechanics with the maintenance and repairs of various facility equipment, such as pumps, piping, digesters, dryers, water recovery systems, gas compression units, and other mechanical systems.
  • Helps with routine facility upkeep including cleaning, painting, and general groundskeeping, as well as supporting basic maintenance and repair activities on stationary and rotating equipment like tanks, piping, valves, pumps, mixers, and motors.
  • Prepares tools and materials for mechanics and assists during more complex maintenance or repair tasks by moving parts, organizing equipment, and following directions.
  • Supports/aids with a variety of process and quality control related duties including collecting, packaging, shipping, documenting, and reporting samples of various gases, liquids, and solids.
  • Operates offroad utility vehicles such as skid steers, loaders, forklifts, and UTV's, as well as light trucks inside and outside of the facility under supervision and with proper training.
  • Assists with work in elevated or confined spaces after completing required training and with appropriate supervision and safety equipment.
  • Participate in all required safety and technical training, including company policies, equipment procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Maintains a willingness to work overtime and participate in an on-call rotation.

Education/Experience is required when indicated, desired otherwise.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude or an interest in mechanical work
  • Valid driver's license (required)
  • Ability to follow directions and work safely in an industrial environment
  • Comfortable using basic hand tools
  • Willingness to learn and take on physically demanding tasks
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions

Physical Demand
Field work will include work outside and exposed to the weather, high elevations, confined spaces, electrical components, both stationary and rotating equipment, manure and other agricultural wastes, gases and liquids that are compressed/pressurized, toxic, caustic, or acidic, and/or flammable, dust, exposure to high heat/cold weather, high winds, and high noise.

Satisfactory performance of the essential duties of this job will require standing, kneeling, sitting, and walking as well as fine motor skills (especially of the hands) and the extended reach of arms. Climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, and crawling will be required. Regular senses of smell, hearing, and sight are required. The capacity to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds is required.
Work Environment
The duties of this job will include working both in an office environment and outdoors in the weather year-round as well as inside industrial spaces with operating machinery. Exposure to high heat and high humidity as well as cold weather and high winds can be expected. This job also includes potential exposure to high noise, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, acids and caustic chemicals, flammable and/or poisonous atmospheres, hot surfaces/equipment, cold surfaces/equipment, high vibrations, confined spaces, elevated working surfaces, vehicle traffic, and animal manure.
Compensation
Salary is paid on a bi-weekly basis and will be consummate with the value and experience the candidate brings to the role. In addition to base salary, compensation includes the option to participate in company sponsored medical, dental, and vision insurance plans and in a retirement savings program as well as paid personal time off and holidays. You will also be eligible for a monthly bonus and participation in the employee Long-Term Incentive plan.
