About Us:
BDI Marine Contractors is a growing, family-owned construction company specializing in marine construction, including docks, seawalls, and waterfront structures. As we continue to expand, we’re building out a stronger, more structured safety program and are looking for a Safety Coordinator to help implement and enforce it across all projects.


Position Overview:
The Safety Coordinator will play a key role in supporting and enforcing company safety standards across all jobsites. This position is responsible for tracking compliance, conducting site visits, supporting field teams, and helping build out a formal safety program. This is a hands-on role with strong growth potential into a Safety Manager position.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits
  • Ensure crews are following OSHA and company safety standards
  • Track and collect toolbox talks from foremen and superintendents
  • Maintain safety documentation, logs, and reports (OSHA logs, incident reports, etc.)
  • Assist with accident investigations and follow-up actions
  • Coordinate and track employee safety training and certifications
  • Help implement and maintain the company safety manual and policies
  • Work directly with field leadership to correct unsafe conditions and behaviors
  • Support new hire safety onboarding and orientation
  • Monitor PPE compliance and jobsite safety requirements

Requirements:

  • 1–3+ years of construction safety experience (or construction field experience with strong safety knowledge)
  • Basic understanding of OSHA regulations
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to be firm and enforce standards while maintaining good working relationships
  • Willingness to travel to jobsites as needed
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience in marine construction or heavy civil construction
  • Experience with safety audits, reporting, and training coordination
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
