Position Overview:

We are currently seeking an experienced Field Safety Advisor to join our team in Reno, NV! This position will work in Northern Reno as well as Northern California as needed. The Safety Advisor will assist the division with planning and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT). The Safety & Training Advisor is responsible for reinforcing safety culture within the organization.

What You'll Do

Essential Job Skills/Duties:

Safety Program Management

  • Draft basic safety policies and procedures under supervision
  • Update safety programs based on regulatory changes and report modifications
  • Contribute to safety risk assessments by identifying potential hazards
  • Assist in monitoring safety program effectiveness and suggest improvements
  • Conduct basic tailboard safety talks for small field crews
  • Help field supervisors identify potential safety hazards on job sites
  • Deliver basic safety orientation sessions to new employees

Incident Management and Investigation

  • Conduct initial incident scene preservation and documentation
  • Assist in interviewing witnesses and collecting statements
  • Help identify immediate causes of incidents under supervision
  • Contribute to the development of corrective action plans
  • Conduct preliminary field interviews following minor incidents
  • Assist in recreating incident scenarios using field diagrams
  • Deliver basic incident prevention training to small groups

Compliance and Inspections

  • Conduct routine safety inspections under supervision
  • Identify common safety violations and non-compliance issues
  • Assist in preparing inspection reports and recommendations
  • Help track the implementation of corrective actions
  • Conduct routine field safety inspections under supervision

Safety Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Compile safety statistics and metrics under supervision

  • Prepare simple reports on field safety performance

What You'll Bring

Education and Experience:

  • High school graduate and/or GED equivalent
  • 2 years minimum related experience (ideally within power line construction) preferred
  • OSHA 30 certification and/or related safety certification, preferred
  • Understanding of Federal and State safety regulations and training requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and experience with web-based tracking software.
  • Be willing to travel for work in Northern Reno, NV and Northern California as needed.
  • Must complete alcohol and drug test screenings.
