Job description

Position SummaryThe Plans Reviewer is to work collaboratively with other JDS employees in leading the company toward its long-term vision of being the premier provider of engineering and design services across the southeast. An employee in this class will oversee and perform technical reviews and quality-control aspects of project work, and serve as a resource for other team members to understand construction concepts and processes. All work performed shall be done in accordance with JDS guidelines and standard procedures as outlined in approved company documents. The Plans Reviewer is expected to act as an ambassador for the JDS brand.


Primary Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Perform regular audits and quality control of DDE team member work before Final Review submittal.
  • Perform as needed site evaluations, drafting, and design for architectural and structural projects as requested by the client of JDS Consulting. Work shall be performed promptly and submitted for review and requested before project delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with the DDE team members.
  • Work collaboratively with other JDS employees in leading the company towards its long-term vision of being a premier provider of structural engineering services in the region.
  • Work with the Technical Review Manager to support and implement engineering standards, policies, safety standards and training.
  • Work with the Engineering Department to oversee, interpret, and approve data collection, reporting, and presentation of deliverables.
  • Provide escalation support for technical departmental issues.
  • Ensure overall customer satisfaction.
  • Interpret data, prepare technical reports, and communicate report findings to clients and/or regulatory staff as needed.
  • Regularly oversee the Technical and Final Review log and manage updates/notifications of review issues.
*DDE= Design, Drafting, & Engineering* Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a U.S.-accredited university in Civil or Construction Engineering or related field.

Experience: 1-2 years of construction experience. Coursework and experience in concrete and steel design.


Skills:

  • Knowledge of Residential construction methods, Building codes, and such material for research and reference on projects and client and team questions.
  • Exposure to AutoCAD with some project experience.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Gmail, and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills, communication skills, the ability to multitask, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey data both internally and externally.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Google applications.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
