We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety Manager, Engineering & Field Services, North America to lead the EHS function supporting our Engineering & Field Services teams throughout the United States and Canada.

This integral member of the safety team will play a pivotal role in leading Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives across a multi-regional field organization. Reporting to the Director of Health and Safety, the successful candidate will be accountable for the continued development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs while driving compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and strengthening a culture of safety throughout the organization.

The position will be based out of our Field Service office in Tipp City, Ohio, with approximately 50-60% travel throughout the U.S. and Canada to support field operations, conduct job-site inspections and audits, engage with employees and leaders, investigate incidents, and meet with customers and client EHS representatives. This role will have 2-3 direct reports, including Safety Advisors supporting U.S. and Canadian operations.

Goals

• Improve visibility, consistency, and execution of EHS services across the Engineering and Field Services teams throughout North America.
• Lead serious and high-potential incident investigations and mentor Safety Advisors and operations leaders in completing thorough, high-quality investigations and reports.
• Strengthen the EHS culture by focusing safety programs and initiatives on meaningful topics related to the work performed by field team members.
• Lead initiatives designed to reduce workplace injuries and improve overall field safety performance.
• Lead and develop two Safety Advisors supporting U.S. and Canadian operations.
• Increase engagement and visibility of EHS leadership with field employees and operational leaders.

Objectives

• Manage the business unit EHS budget.
• Ensure annual safety audits are completed for all operational regions by the EHS team and/or operations management.
• Oversee Certificate of Recognition (COR) safety certifications for Canadian operations in collaboration with the Canada Safety Advisor.
• Develop and execute the annual EHS plan for the business unit.
• Establish meaningful safety metrics and reporting across all regions.
• Increase front-line interaction with field crews through routine job-site inspections across all regions.
• Engage safety representatives from each region and ensure appropriate representation on Joint Workplace EHS Committees.
• Participate in effective and inclusive quarterly Joint Workplace EHS Committee meetings.
• Conduct effective monthly EHS meetings for employees.
• Provide timely input to pre-qualification organizations.
• Partner with the Sales team to identify and communicate EHS requirements that may impact project scope, cost, or execution.
• Consult with clients regarding EHS training, program development, and incident reporting when required.

Accountabilities

• Develop, update, and review EHS policies, procedures, programs, and documentation.
• Develop EHS strategy and annual goals while incorporating applicable regulatory requirements and industry trends.
• Manage the annual EHS budget.
• Facilitate company-wide safety program audits across all regions in accordance with applicable standards and requirements.
• Participate in quarterly EHS committee meetings.
• Lead serious and high-potential incident investigations and ensure appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
• Manage applicable WCB, OSHA, and MSHA requirements and relationships.
• Lead internal EHS communications and initiatives designed to influence and reinforce a positive safety culture.
• Build strong relationships with client EHS representatives and serve as a key EHS contact for customers.
• Manage all aspects of the EHS program for the business unit.
• Maintain and continuously improve the Company's EHS Management System.
• Partner with department managers and operational leaders to execute company EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
• Provide EHS expertise, coaching, training, and support to leaders and employees.
• Ensure accidents and incidents are appropriately investigated and documented, including root-cause analysis and corrective/preventative action follow-up.
• Identify and coordinate required EHS training, including new-hire safety orientation and job-specific training.
• Influence management and employees to consistently follow EHS policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Serve as a resource and subject-matter expert for field operations.

Additional Duties & Involvement

• Participate in establishing short- and long-term EHS goals across all regions.
• Provide monthly EHS updates to senior leadership.
• Participate in maintaining technical EHS materials, training content, and resources.
• Manage and utilize the Company's Safety Management Software.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across Engineering & Field Services.
• Participate in customer meetings and project planning activities when EHS expertise is required.
