DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

The ideal candidate will provide hands on construction health and safety support to meet the ArcelorMittal Calvert business needs. This individual will work directly in the field with contractors, supervisors, and employees to promote a safe and compliant construction environment, identify and control hazards, support safety initiatives, and ensure work is performed in accordance with company requirements and applicable regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will bring strong construction safety experience, sound judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to build productive working relationships across all levels of the organization. This position requires a safety professional who is comfortable working in an active industrial construction environment and can effectively support the day-to-day safety needs of the project.

The Basics:

  • Minimum of 5 years of construction safety experience required.
  • OSHA 500, OSHA 501, CHST, ASP, GSP, or CSP preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)

 

TRAITS TO BE SUCCESSFUL 

  • Strong understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1926, OSHA 29 CFR 1910, NFPA, ANSI and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Ability to recognize hazards, assess risk, and communicate safety expectations effectively in a construction environment
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and displays high degree of ethics and professionalism
  • Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with contractors, supervisors, management, and craft personnel to meet shared safety objectives

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Provides field support in all aspects of construction Health and Safety including permitting, compliance documentation / tracking, safety communications, and contractor safety coordination
  • Collaborate with Contractor Safety representatives, construction managers and project managers to provide guidance on ArcelorMittal program requirements, standards and procedures.
  • Leads or assists in completing various construction safety projects, inspections, audits, and safety initiatives
  • Documents, analyzes, evaluates, and prepares reports for various safety and health measurables such as monthly man hours, incidents, safety KPIs, OSHA logs, inspections, and other safety related data
  • Promotes safety awareness throughout the construction site through safety meetings, toolbox talks, campaigns, demonstrations, and other safety and health events
  • Conducts field audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety requirements; works closely with contractors and management to develop and implement safety goals and corrective actions and tracks progress of same
  • Participates and/or leads incident investigations to determine root cause and effective corrective actions
  • Provides field guidance to management, contractors, and project teams regarding construction activities, equipment, work planning, and hazard controls
  • Maintains and/or assists with the development of construction safety programs as needed including implementation, training, and field verification

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Construction site, field, and office setting
  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours, weekends, and/or shift work as required due to project activities and periods of peak workloads
