Advertising Summary: The Department of Extension Plant Sciences is seeking a qualified candidate to join the Viticulture Program as a Program Coordinator.

Position Details

Appointment Full-time Equivalency: 1.0

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Bargaining Unit Announcement: This is a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Contingent Upon Funding: Not Applicable

Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

If Not a Standard Work Schedule: 

Job Duties and Responsibilities: - Hires and supervises NMSU student workers, including an industry supported internship.
- Aides collaborative projects with EPS colleagues and growers.
- Researches and purchases materials and equipment (maintains same).
- Provides labor and logistical support for vineyard installation and maintenance statewide but with emphasis on Fabian Garcia vineyard, data collection, collation and interpretation, presentation and/or publication essential to fulfill institutional and industry needs and requests.
- Maintains and updates program webpage and social media.
- Provides logistical and program support for the annual New Mexico Winegrowers' Association Educational Conference.
- Liaison with the state's amateur winegrowing association, New Mexico Wine and Vine Society that conducts the state's Wine Competition in conjunction with New Mexico State Fair.
- Provides advice and some lab analyses of grower juice and wine samples as requested.
- Be an active participant in the Extension Plant Sciences Department, attend department meetings, and provide service to the department as assigned by the Department Head.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
High School diploma + 1 years of relevant experience, or higher degree.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
