QTEC Aerospace is seeking a SYSTEMS SAFETY ENGINEER to join our team of professionals in Huntsville, AL. The qualified applicant will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a proven track record and a positive work ethic.

Job Summary

QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidates will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • The candidate will thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/teams comprised of all experience levels

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 3 years of related work experience, or a PhD. and 1 year of related work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to work on-site in an office environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience with requirements decomposition and management
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
  • Verification experience or knowledge
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS
  • Experience developing Certification or Verification packages for all levels of requirements (including safety requirements for operations, flight test, and ground test)
  • Experience developing systems engineering and systems safety products in an Agile environment
  • System Safety Engineering experience conducting comprehensive system safety analyses IAW MIL-STD-882E, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), and Operating & Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA) to ensure compliance and mitigate operational risks
  • Missile Defense Weapon System experience

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with Requirement Verification methods such as Test
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) / Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certificate
  • Demonstrated independent planning, organization, and working in cross-functional teams with a customer focus
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and associated tools
  • INCOSE or System Engineering certification

Security Clearance

Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
