Position Summary:


The Safety Officer is responsible for supporting and promoting a safe, compliant, and proactive safety culture across all construction projects and company operations. This role works closely with field teams, Operations, and Executive Leadership to ensure safety expectations, OSHA compliance, training, documentation, and risk management processes are consistently implemented companywide.


What You’ll Own:


Safety Program Management


  • Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain and distribute standardized safety documentation, forms, and training materials
  • Support companywide safety initiatives, campaigns, and annual Safety Week activities
  • Monitor safety trends, recurring issues, and high-risk activities across projects


Field Support & Jobsite Oversight


  • Conduct jobsite safety visits and audits across active projects
  • Verify third-party safety inspectors are contracted and actively performing required project inspections
  • Review third-party safety inspection reports and coordinate follow-up on identified deficiencies or corrective actions
  • Review Daily Job Logs (DJLs), safety observations, toolbox talks, and safety documentation for compliance and engagement
  • Assist project teams with identifying and correcting unsafe conditions or behaviors
  • Verify required PPE, fall protection, housekeeping, excavation safety, scaffolding, and other OSHA-related requirements are being followed
  • Assist with implementation of project-specific safety plans and jobsite safety rules


OSHA & Incident Management


  • Assist project teams with OSHA reporting requirements and incident documentation
  • Coordinate incident investigations and help identify root causes and corrective actions
  • Maintain records related to incidents, injuries, inspections, and corrective actions
  • Support project teams during OSHA inspections or agency inquiries


Training & Communication


  • Coordinate and track OSHA 10/30 certifications and other required safety training
  • Develop and distribute toolbox talk topics and safety communications
  • Provide guidance and support to Superintendents, Project Managers, and subcontractors regarding safety expectations
  • Promote consistent communication and engagement related to safety across all projects


Compliance & Documentation


  • Maintain organized safety records and ensure required documentation is completed and stored properly
  • Review project safety plans, subcontractor safety documentation, and related compliance items
  • Track corrective actions and follow-up items from inspections, audits, or incidents
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with OSHA and applicable state/local safety regulations


Operations & Procore Collaboration


  • Work closely with the Operations team to improve consistency, communication, and accountability across projects
  • Assist with setup and maintenance of safety-related workflows, forms, and documentation processes within Procore
  • Review DJLs companywide to help monitor safety engagement, documentation quality, and recurring field concerns
  • Support standardization of safety tracking, reporting, and operational workflows across projects
  • Assist project teams with proper documentation and communication of safety items within project management systems


Executive Leadership Support


The Safety Officer will regularly communicate with Executive Leadership regarding companywide safety performance, compliance risks, and operational safety concerns.

Responsibilities include:


  • Providing updates on significant incidents, violations, and recurring safety trends
  • Assisting leadership with risk management and compliance initiatives
  • Supporting companywide safety goals and strategic initiatives
  • Helping develop standardized procedures and accountability measures
  • Assisting with preparation for agency reviews, inspections, or audits
  • Providing recommendations for continuous improvement in safety and operations



Who You Are:


  • 5-10 years of construction safety, field operations, or construction management experience preferred
  • Experience in multifamily, commercial, or large-scale construction projects preferred
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore preferred
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred
  • Additional safety certifications are a plus
