Job description

Hyperbaric Safety Director

The Hyperbaric Safety Director is responsible for the overall safety, operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the Hyperbaric Chamber System and all supporting equipment. This position serves as the department's primary authority on hyperbaric safety and technical operations and has the authority to restrict or remove any equipment, supplies, or practices that may pose a safety risk within the hyperbaric environment.

The Hyperbaric Safety Director provides leadership for technical staff, oversees training and competency programs, coordinates equipment maintenance and repairs, and ensures compliance with all applicable hyperbaric safety standards and regulations.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • We are a drug free facility. Passing a pre-employment drug screening is required.

Education & Certification Requirements:

  • Valid RN license or certification as an EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic required.
  • Certification as a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) or Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse (CHRN) required.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic program required.
  • Qualification as a U.S. Navy Deep-Sea Diving Medical Technician or Special Operations Technician may be considered equivalent.
  • Completion of a UHMS-approved Hyperbaric Medicine Course required or must be obtained within a timeframe established by the department.
  • Current BLS certification required.

Experience Requirements:

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in hyperbaric chamber operations required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of clinical hyperbaric systems operation preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of: NFPA 99 Hyperbaric Facilities Standards, PVHO-1 Standards, Compressed Gas Association (CGA) guidelines, Hyperbaric safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Military or commercial diving background preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in chamber maintenance and mechanical systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
