Job Description
  • Identifies and Controls hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through safety inspections.
  • Follows up to ensure recommended corrective action is taken.
  • Oversees administers health/safety and first aid activities directly related to onsite Health and Safety, including work assignments, training, safety orientation, etc.
  • Reports, investigates, and documents all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities.
  • Identifies cause and develops corrective action if possible.
  • Conducts workarea surveillance inspections, air sampling tests for confined space entry, property damage and personal injury investigations and other safety monitoring and inspections as required.
  • Reviews health and safety project documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate, and submitted for project records per established procedures.
  • Implement appropriate corrective action as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Accompanies health, safety, and insurance inspectors on walkthrough tours of the project.

Skills & Abilities
  • Good understanding of all federal, state, local health and safety regulations and how to properly administer them.
  • Good ability to recognize hazardous situations and assist in implementing corrective measures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree. Certifications may be required depending on federal, state, local, or contract requirements. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of EM 385-1-1 Safety & Health Requirements
  • AED, CPR, and First Aid Instructor Certification
  • Knowledge of Water and Wastewater Treatment Facilities

Additional Pay Range Information
CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
