Job description

Job Summary:

The Field Safety Supervisor is responsible for making sure our team is able to complete their jobs safely and efficiently in the field. The Field Safety Supervisor must be extremely responsible, responsive, proactive, level-headed, approachable, a strong communicator and maintain a high level of integrity. This person keeps the health and wellbeing of our team a priority, while also servicing the needs of our customers. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current knowledge of OSHA/MSHA regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and ensure safe daily operations in the field.
  • Inspect and assess job sites daily to identify hazards, risks, and potential safety issues.
  • Develop effective strategies to mitigate risks as they arise in the field.
  • Address all safety concerns by providing educated recommendations to ensure the safety of our team members.
  • Request hazard correction from our customer’s on-site contractor personnel (as needed).
  • Coach and train team members in the field on safe operations.
  • Conduct various training sessions (New Hire Orientation, Annual Refreshers).
  • Conduct interviews to obtain information regarding on-the-job incidents and accidents. 
  • Provide immediate on-scene assistance and management in the event of an incident.
  • Establish a strong working relationship with our customers’ and on-site personnel.
  • Complete daily administrative duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education:

  • Associate degree in health and safety, Environmental Science, or another relevant field. 
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Safety is preferred. 
  • May consider 5- 7 years of experience in lieu of degree.

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2-5 years’ work experience with responsibilities in EHS compliance is required, preferably in the construction industry.

 

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Familiar with Industrial Construction activities.
  • Knowledge of OSHA/MSHA regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to hold others accountable and coach effectively.
  • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Microsoft Office, ect.)

 

Work Location and Travel:

  • Lakeland, FL
  • This position requires daily travel to various client worksites, mostly within Central Florida. 15% travel outside of Florida but within the United States.

 

Work environment:

  • The working environment is often in harsh elements (hot / humid and/or cold temperatures, rain, etc.)  Industrial environments often have exposure to hazardous chemicals, moving heavy equipment / machinery, and other safety-sensitive hazards / risks. Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.

Routine physical activities requiring arm/leg movement, including lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and occasional climbing. Bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, or legs.
 See: 
See details up close and at a distance. Judge distances. Detect differences in colors, shades, and brightness.
 Carry, Weight, Lift: 
Lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds. Support body with abdominal/lower back muscles over time without fatigue.
 
Exposure to work: Considerable time will be spent in processing environments both in and outdoors. Environments can be loud, dusty, hot, or cold.
