Job Description

Saab Aerospace Systems in West Lafayette, IN is seeking an experienced HR Generalist for a Human Resources Business Partner role. This on‑site position is part of the local HR team, reporting to the corporate HR organization, and supports manufacturing the rear aft section of the T‑7 Redhawk military trainer aircraft.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as an HR resource for the West Lafayette location, providing support and guidance to employees, supervisors, and local leaders on workforce‑related matters across multiple shifts.
  • Partner with HR Centers of Excellence and local site leadership to implement and support company‑wide HR initiatives, including performance management, talent development, total rewards and recognition, talent acquisition and retention, leave management, workforce planning, and policy compliance.
  • Drive employee relations strategies, coach supervisors on best practices, and assist or lead investigations in coordination with Labor Relations, as needed.
  • Train new leaders on Saab’s HR practices, systems, and processes, supporting their integration into teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Represent Saab as an HR ambassador by participating in industry groups, networking events, and relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Oversee the employee lifecycle, including professional development and backup support for the local recruiter, who manages high‑volume recruiting and onboarding.
  • Partner with the HR team to strategize on building local workforce development pipelines and participate in panel interviews as needed.
  • Contribute to a people‑focused culture in alignment with the core values: Trust, Drive, Expertise, and Support.
  • Provide backup support for the site HR leader as required.
  • Travel up to 15% of the time and support other HR and manufacturing operations projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience in a manufacturing operation, preferably as an HR generalist or business partner.
  • Experience in the defense industry is a plus.
  • Strong HR generalist knowledge base, including talent acquisition, employee lifecycle management, employee relations, employee engagement, workforce planning, performance management, and HR program deployment.
  • Solid understanding of labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems (Workday experience is a plus).
  • Critical thinking and proven problem‑solving skills with a focus on fair and consistent decision‑making.
  • Demonstrated personal initiative and drive for results.
  • Ability to build relationships, advocate for team members, partner with managers, provide HR guidance, and coach leaders on people management.
  • Strong communication, adaptability, collaboration, and strategic mindset to align HR initiatives with business goals and drive continuous improvement.
Compensation

Compensation Range: $92,000.00 - $115,00.00. The range is a general guideline and may be adjusted based on role, responsibilities, location, market, and candidate qualifications.
