Job description

Job Description

S1 Technology is seeking a Security Analyst — a sharp, security-minded problem solver who thrives in fast-moving environments and knows how to turn complex risk into clear action. This position requires strong technical judgment, disciplined investigation skills, and the ability to communicate confidently with both clients and internal teams.

In This Role, You Will

  • Investigate escalated security alerts and suspicious activity, determine scope and impact, document findings clearly, and guide the appropriate response with internal teams and clients.
  • Monitor S1's security platforms and client environments for indicators of compromise, emerging threats, and policy violations so issues are identified and contained early.
  • Produce concise, well-structured incident reports that explain what happened, what was affected, what actions were taken, and what should happen next.
  • Respond to client questions related to security events, audit requests, and risk concerns with professionalism, accuracy, and practical recommendations.
  • Identify security gaps across client environments and internal processes, then recommend improvements that strengthen protection, reduce exposure, and support long-term maturity.
  • Collaborate with service desk, project, and technical pod teams on escalations involving endpoint security, identity, email protection, DNS filtering, and access controls.
  • Support vulnerability management and remediation efforts by helping prioritize findings, tracking follow-through, and verifying risk reduction across affected systems.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of S1's security operations by refining workflows, improving documentation, and helping standardize repeatable response procedures.

Experience & Skillset Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience in a security-focused role, SOC environment, MSP environment, or a similar position involving security monitoring and incident response.
  • Strong understanding of security event triage, alert analysis, incident investigation, and documentation best practices.
  • Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals and security concepts, including firewalls, DNS, VLANs, routing, access controls, and practical troubleshooting methods.
  • Experience with endpoint detection and response, extended detection and response, email security, DNS filtering, and Microsoft security-related technologies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration and identity security concepts, including Entra ID and Conditional Access.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash to streamline investigations and operational tasks.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management, security audits, compliance frameworks, and security recommendations that can be applied in real-world client environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain security risks, findings, and remediation steps to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage priorities effectively, and stay composed when issues require urgency and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with changing threats, security tools, and industry best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous MSP experience
  • Security certifications (Security+, CySA+, CEH, or equivalent)
  • Hands-on experience with EDR/XDR platforms, email security, and DNS filtering tools
  • Experience working within a ticketing and documentation system
