POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Youth Development & the Site Coordinator, the Youth Development Program Aide assists the site coordinator in the supervision and carrying out of the daily activities of the assigned childcare site, ensuring the program meets its intended goals as well as the Association's goals. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Assists in supervising the children and all program activities.
  2. Follows all procedures and standards as established by State Subsidy Standards and the Y; makes ADA accommodations where appropriate; maintains the program site, equipment, and required program records.
  3. Nurtures children through purposeful programming; to include homework help & carries out holistic lesson plans that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes of achievement, relationships and belonging.
  4. Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth.
  5. Be ready to initiate activities, participate in activities and interact with children.
  6. Help record and maintain student information.
  7. Prepare and help with snacks.
  8. Provides and welcomes ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about their child's needs and progress; connects families to the Y. Punch in and out for required shifts and review timecard to verify accuracy.
  9. Responsible for assuring high standards of program quality, and safety in accordance with YMCA safety and risk management policies. Know all emergency procedures.
  10. Arrive 10-15 minutes before shift starts and be prepared if closing; stay until the last child is gone.
  11. Attends and participates in required program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned by site coordinator.
