Rx Sales refers to the sales of prescription medications by pharmaceutical representatives or companies to healthcare providers, such as doctors, clinics, and hospitals. Professionals in this field promote and provide information about prescription drugs to encourage healthcare providers to prescribe their products. Rx Sales representatives often build relationships with medical professionals, provide product samples, and stay informed about the latest drug developments and regulations. Their role is crucial in ensuring that healthcare providers are aware of new and existing medications that can benefit their patients.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Rx Sales representative?

To thrive as an Rx Sales Representative, you need a strong understanding of pharmaceutical products, sales strategies, and industry regulations, often supported by a bachelor's degree in life sciences or business. Job description

$50,000–$60,000 base, depending on experience  |  Target total compensation $80,000+ with uncapped commission

About the Role

Rx Technology is looking for a detail-driven Inside Sales Representative to build accurate technology quotes, support our Account Managers, and grow revenue within our existing client base.

This role blends sales support, account development, and quoting expertise. You'll prepare accurate proposals across multiple technology platforms while proactively spotting renewal, hardware-refresh, licensing, and service opportunities within existing accounts.

We're especially interested in candidates with a technical IT background – helpdesk, NOC, network support, or MSP technical roles – who have the precision and product knowledge quoting demands, and who want to move into a revenue-generating career. MSP or VAR sales/quoting experience is a strong plus but not required if you bring the technical foundation and attention to detail.

Your account portfolio is your opportunity. You'll earn commission on the gross profit you generate from existing customer relationships, with a clear path to an Account Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

Quoting & Solution Development

  • Prepare accurate, professional quotes across key technology lines, including Cisco, Meraki, HPE, Fortinet, Lenovo, and other strategic OEM partners.
  • Use ConnectWise and distributor pricing tools, including Ingram Micro, TD SYNNEX, and other authorized distributors.
  • Validate bills of materials (BOMs) with engineering and procurement teams to ensure accuracy before submission.
  • Maintain quote accuracy while meeting established turnaround-time expectations.

Revenue Growth & Account Development

  • Manage and grow revenue within an assigned base of existing client accounts.
  • Identify and act on warranty expirations, renewals (subscriptions, warranties, and more), hardware-refresh opportunities, end-of-life/end-of-support replacements, and service or product add-on opportunities.
  • Proactively engage customers to drive renewals, upgrades, and additional sales opportunities.
  • Support quarterly business reviews and customer account planning.

Deal Registration & Opportunity Management

  • Manage OEM deal registrations through vendor portals such as Cisco CCW, HPE, and other manufacturer programs.
  • Protect and maximize deal profitability through proper registration and pricing strategy.
  • Maintain complete, accurate records in ConnectWise – opportunities, sales stages, forecasts, activities, and next steps.
  • Ensure strong pipeline visibility and accountability throughout the sales process.

Qualifications

We're looking for one of these two backgrounds:

  • Technical IT background: hands-on experience in helpdesk, NOC, network/systems support, or a technical MSP role, with a track record of accuracy, documentation, and process discipline – and genuine interest in moving into a sales/account-growth career. No prior MSP sales experience required; we'll train you on quoting, CRM, and deal registration.
  • MSP sales experience: 2+ years in inside sales, account management, sales support, or technology quoting within an MSP, VAR, systems integrator, or technology solutions provider, with experience creating and managing quotes across multiple manufacturers.

Preferred for either path:

  • Strong understanding of networking, infrastructure, managed services, cybersecurity, and technology procurement.
  • Experience with CRM/PSA platforms, preferably ConnectWise, and OEM deal-registration programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and genuine attention to detail – this role lives and dies on quote accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills; self-motivated and growth-oriented.

Certifications are a plus, not a requirement – Rx Technology supports ongoing certification attainment, including Cisco Sales Certifications, Cisco Meraki SMNA, HPE Sales Certifications, and ConnectWise/Channel Online training.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $50,000–$60,000 annually, depending on experience.
  • Uncapped commission on gross profit generated from renewals, refreshes, and account expansion.
  • Target total first-year compensation: $80,000+ for reps hitting a full account portfolio ramp.
  • 100% company-paid health and life insurance.
  • Dental, vision, and disability insurance.
  • Paid time off.
  • Professional development and certification support.

Career Growth

This position has a defined advancement path into an Account Manager role. High performers who consistently demonstrate quoting accuracy, account ownership, and revenue growth will move into greater responsibility, larger account portfolios, and higher earning potential.
