What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Runway Model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Runway Model, you need excellent physical fitness, body awareness, and the ability to maintain industry-standard measurements, often supported by prior modeling experience or agency representation. Familiarity with runway techniques, posing, and sometimes fashion show software or booking systems is typically required. Confidence, professionalism, and the ability to take direction and work under pressure are crucial soft skills for this role. These skills and qualities ensure a model can effectively represent designers' visions, adapt to fast-paced show environments, and maintain a strong professional reputation.

What are some common challenges faced by runway models during fashion shows?

Runway models often encounter challenges such as adapting quickly to last-minute outfit changes, maintaining poise and confidence under intense pressure, and walking in unfamiliar or difficult footwear. The fast-paced environment requires strong time-management skills and the ability to stay calm amid hectic backstage activity. Additionally, models must work closely with designers, stylists, and other models to ensure the show's success, often relying on clear communication and teamwork.

What are runway models?

Runway models, also known as catwalk models, are professionals who showcase clothing, accessories, and designs on a runway during fashion shows. They are hired by designers, fashion houses, or brands to present the latest trends and collections to buyers, media, and the public. Runway models are expected to walk with confidence, maintain a certain physique, and embody the designer's vision. Their work plays a crucial role in setting fashion trends and influencing the industry. In addition to walking, they may also pose for photographs and interact with stylists, makeup artists, and photographers.

In collaboration, you will define KPIs and set attainable, stretch goals to drive continuous improvement. You will be a key contributor to the culture of the team, and you will have opportunities for growth and leadership as we expand.
What You'll Do:
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to identify, scope, and fill data visibility gaps.
  • Work with Product and Engineering teams to ensure we collect the data required to support business objectives
  • Develop scalable, reusable, and well-documented data models that power dashboards, reports, and analysis across the organization
  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineering to design, optimize, and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data availability, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Analyze key areas of the business to uncover opportunities for optimization, experimentation, and strategic improvements.
  • Define and monitor KPIs to influence decisions throughout RTR
  • Build, maintain, and monitor robust, user-friendly Looker dashboards and reports, ensuring stakeholders have access to up-to-date insights.
  • Promote and assimilate best practices across the Data Team, including data governance, performance optimization, and documentation.
About you:
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with large, complex data sets.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics...); advanced degrees and/or specializations a plus.
  • Highly proficient in SQL, with the ability to write efficient, optimized queries for large-scale datasets.
  • Experience with data analytics tools such as Looker or Tableau to build dashboards and reports.
  • Experience with dimension modeling and data architecture, ensuring scalable and efficient data structures
  • Experience with DBT for transforming and managing data models
  • Experience with code management and deployment on Github a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to uncover insights and communicate findings effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, including business stakeholders, data engineers, and product teams.
  • Experience working with event data or user/product analytics tools (e.g., Heap) is a plus.
  • Passion for data and its fundamental ability to create value.
  • Extremely curious and excited to dive into complex problems.
