What is the difference between Runway Models vs Fashion Models?

AspectRunway ModelsFashion Models
CredentialsMinimal; often includes height and measurementsSimilar; includes height, measurements, and sometimes experience
Work EnvironmentRunway shows, fashion weeks, designer presentationsPhotoshoots, magazine spreads, advertising campaigns
Industry UsagePrimarily runway events and live showsPrint, editorial, commercial, and runway
Search & Comparison IntentOften compared for modeling gigs and fashion showsBroader modeling opportunities including print and commercial work

Runway models focus mainly on live fashion shows and runway appearances, requiring specific height and measurements. Fashion models have a broader scope, including print, editorial, and commercial work, with similar credential requirements. While runway models are a subset of fashion models, the key difference lies in the work environment and type of assignments.

Can a 5'7" girl be a runway model?

Runway models are typically required to be at least 5'8" to 6'0" tall, with height being a key industry standard for the profession. While a 5'7" individual may face challenges in traditional runway modeling, they can pursue other modeling types such as commercial or print modeling where height requirements are more flexible. Developing skills like posing and runway walking can also enhance opportunities in various modeling fields.

How do I start modeling with no experience?

Starting a career as a runway model with no experience involves building a portfolio with professional photos, maintaining a healthy appearance, and attending open casting calls or submitting to modeling agencies. Developing runway walking skills and understanding industry standards can improve chances of getting signed and booked for shows.

How much do runway models get paid?

Runway models' pay varies widely depending on experience, location, and the designer or agency. Typically, they earn between $150 and $1,000 per show, with top models earning significantly more, especially for high-profile fashion weeks. Payment can include a combination of show fees, commissions, and sometimes additional expenses covered by the client.

Is 25 too late to start modeling?

Runway modeling typically favors younger individuals, often in their teens or early twenties, but starting at 25 is not impossible. Success depends on factors like height, look, and ability to adapt, and some models begin later and find opportunities in commercial or plus-size segments. Building a strong portfolio and networking can help late starters enter the industry.

What are some common challenges faced by runway models during fashion shows?

Runway models often encounter challenges such as adapting quickly to last-minute outfit changes, maintaining poise and confidence under intense pressure, and walking in unfamiliar or difficult footwear. The fast-paced environment requires strong time-management skills and the ability to stay calm amid hectic backstage activity. Additionally, models must work closely with designers, stylists, and other models to ensure the show's success, often relying on clear communication and teamwork.

What are runway models?

Runway models, also known as catwalk models, are professionals who showcase clothing, accessories, and designs on a runway during fashion shows. They are hired by designers, fashion houses, or brands to present the latest trends and collections to buyers, media, and the public. Runway models are expected to walk with confidence, maintain a certain physique, and embody the designer's vision. Their work plays a crucial role in setting fashion trends and influencing the industry. In addition to walking, they may also pose for photographs and interact with stylists, makeup artists, and photographers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Runway Model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Runway Model, you need excellent physical fitness, body awareness, and the ability to maintain industry-standard measurements, often supported by prior modeling experience or agency representation. Familiarity with runway techniques, posing, and sometimes fashion show software or booking systems is typically required. Confidence, professionalism, and the ability to take direction and work under pressure are crucial soft skills for this role. These skills and qualities ensure a model can effectively represent designers' visions, adapt to fast-paced show environments, and maintain a strong professional reputation.

Job description

Overview

Endodontist - Associate with Partnership Path
Location: Redding, California
Practice: Jason Smith Endodontics
Employment Type: Full-time

Step into a highly respected, single-location endodontic practice serving the Redding community with consistent, referral-driven demand—one of only three endodontists in the region. Demand is already proven by a long schedule backlog (booked ~30 days out), so you can ramp quickly with immediate patient flow, deep relationships with local GPs, and a veteran team that knows how to support high-volume endo.

You’ll join a personable, mentorship-focused owner doctor and long-tenured staff in a supportive environment, with high clinical autonomy and a clear runway to expand capacity in a market where doctor availability is the primary constraint.

In addition, this role is eligible for Specialized Dental Partners’ Loan Relief Program, which is designed to provide meaningful debt relief to doctors serving select high-need markets. After applying, you will receive a follow-up email with additional details about the program, along with a short eligibility form.

If you’re open to exploring this opportunity or learning more about our loan forgiveness program, apply below or reach out to careers@specializeddental.com to schedule a quick, confidential conversation.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

Ready-made for growth
A proven, referral-driven practice in an under-supplied market—doctor capacity is the only constraint right now.

Instant ramp—patients waiting
The schedule is booked ~30 days out, so you step into immediate demand instead of “building a book.”

Strong referrals, zero cold start
Deep relationships with local GPs and consistent community demand with only three endodontists serving the area.

Clinical control + support
Flexible scheduling, experienced team, and the autonomy to practice endo your way—tech-supported (CBCT on site; laser arriving soon).

Defined path to partnership
Join with autonomy today and a clear runway toward ownership as capacity and access to care expand in this market.

Why Redding, CA is a great place to build or continue your career:

Outdoor-first Lifestyle: Live near Whiskeytown National Recreation Area and other iconic Northern California scenery—easy access to hiking, water, and weekend adventure.

Landmarks + Community Vibe: Enjoy local highlights like the Sundial Bridge and a close-knit town atmosphere with a strong sense of community.

Weekend-ready Geography: Within driving distance of the California coast, Southern Oregon, and San Francisco—big trips when you want them, calm pace day-to-day.

Quality of Life Meets Professional Demand: A smaller-city lifestyle paired with meaningful clinical need and strong local referrals.
