Position Summary The City of Manassas is accepting applications for our Airfield Electrician with the Washington Manassas Airport. This position is responsible for the troubleshooting of high-voltage airfield lighting systems and navigation aids. The hiring range is: $29.53 - $40.60 per hour, DOQ

Essential Job Functions Performs technical duties in maintenance of airfield electrical lighting circuits, navigation aids, constant current regulators, and other equipment associated with the airfield lighting system and airport buildings and hangars. Responsible for inspecting, servicing, testing, and performing preventative maintenance for electrical systems in accordance with established procedures in compliance of FAA regulations.
Installs, repairs, and maintains airfield lighting circuits, airfield lighting control systems, airport navigational aids, rotating beacon, associated control circuits to the Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT), feeder circuits, cabling, signage, lighting regulators, emergency generators, uninterrupted power supply (UPS), transfer switches and other miscellaneous electrical duties for the airfield and airport buildings and hangars. Rebuilds and replaces damaged and outdated light fixtures for taxiway/runway and threshold. Performs electrical safety inspections in hangars and repairs and replaces receptacles and light switches, and tests voltage and amps to comply with appropriate codes.
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Airport Maintenance Supervisor, co-workers, vendors, and the general public as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. Assists, as needed, in airport improvement projects and ensures contractors are in compliance with safety requirements. Uses appropriate safety equipment and follows safety procedures, including unique requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Actively participate as a member of the Snow Removal Team during winter operations. Subject to being on call and coming to the airport after hours to respond to emergencies. Assist other airport divisions, and performs other duties as required.
Minimum Required Qualifications High School diploma or GED and Vocational/Technical certification in related field required Three (3) years' experience in an airport, or commercial electrical setting; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities for this job Special Requirements May be required to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and Confined Space, or other certifications. Must obtain certification by the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) as an Airport Certified Employee (ACE) - Airfield Lighting Maintenance within one (1) year of hire.
