Job description

Stop potential customers mid-scroll with your social clipping expertise.

RUN Studios, and its client partner, a large online retailer headquartered in Seattle, are seeking a Social Clipping Editor to join our creative team as a dedicated contractor for a 4-month project.

The Social Clipping Editor serves as the project manager and creative lead for the in-house social clipping function. This role bridges strategy and execution: receiving briefs from Social Managers, translating them into actionable clip assignments, overseeing junior social editor output quality, and providing hands-on editorial direction on what to cut and how to cut it. The ideal candidate combines social-native creative judgment with operational rigor and team leadership.

As a Social Clipping Editor, You Will

Creative Direction and Quality Control

  • Review all clip outputs from junior social editors for platform fit, pacing, hook strength, and strategic alignment.
  • Provide specific, actionable feedback on cuts: timing, framing, moment selection, text overlay placement.
  • Ensure clips meet social best practices across Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and X.
  • Maintain quality parity or improvement vs. prior agency output.

Project Management and Workflow

  • Receive and interpret briefs from Social Managers; translate into prioritized clip assignments.
  • Manage the daily clip production queue across titles, brands, and cultural moments.
  • Track volume targets and turnaround times; flag capacity constraints early.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for the AI-powered clipping workflow.
  • Coordinate with publishing teams to ensure seamless asset handoff.

AI Tool Operations

  • Operate the 1P AI clipping tool at an advanced level; serve as subject matter expert for the team.
  • Identify tool optimization opportunities: prompt strategies and workflow shortcuts.
  • Contribute to tool feedback loops with product and engineering teams.
  • Produce clips directly as needed to cover volume spikes or complex briefs.

Team Development

  • Onboard, train, and coach Social Editors on tool usage, social best practices, and quality standards.
  • Establish clear rubrics for clip quality by platform.
  • Run regular calibration sessions to maintain consistency across editors.

In This Role, You Bring

  • 2+ years in social media content creation, video editing, or social publishing.
  • Portfolio demonstrating expertise in short-form video best practices across major platforms.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior creatives.
  • Strong project management skills; proven ability to manage high-volume, fast-turnaround workflows.
  • Proficiency with AI-powered creative tools: generative AI, automated editing, NLP-based tools.
  • Deep understanding of social platform algorithms, engagement drivers, and content formats.
  • Editorial taste and judgment that elevates output beyond functional execution.
  • Comfortable operating at high volume without sacrificing quality.
  • Bias for action; thrives in fast-paced, real-time content environments.
  • Translate strategic briefs into clear, specific creative direction for the team.
  • Mastery or Expertise of Premiere pro.
  • Entertainment, media, or streaming content experience preferred.

Additional Position Details

  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    • None.
  • Physical Demands
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Work Environment
    • Typical for an office setting or home environment.
    • Onsite in Culver City, CA.
  • Travel
    • None.
