ENGINEER UNIX - PLATFORM ENGINEERING 
Engineer will provide services as the primary engineer assigned to customer accounts in support of their systems, infrastructure and daily administration and management. Engineer will work closely with Service Delivery Managers and internal teams to ensure that all aspects of the customer's ongoing system support and administration are successful. Engineer will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of system/network flow diagrams, custom monitors, RTS (Return to Service) documents, knowledge base articles as needed, and other proactive service improvement initiatives. Engineer will be available for escalations 24x7 on an on-call basis. He/She will conduct ongoing training for first line support personnel on their assigned customer's environment. Identifies and corrects recurring technical issues within their assigned customer(s) environments. Advises customer and acts as their SME (subject matter expert) for their environment for ongoing upgrades and infrastructure improvements. 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE (describes minimum levels of formal education, training, and applicable experience required to perform the role.) 
Qualified candidates MUST possess the following: 
A two year associate degree is required (bachelor degree in computer science or related major is preffered). 
7+ years' solid experience in UNIX operating systems administration, with last 5 years' experience on Red Hat Enterprise Linux on Intel x86-64, RHCSA for version 5 or above. 
5+ years large production environment experience working with enterprise class server hardware platforms; preferably HP Proliant, IBM xSeries, CISCO UCS, and Sun Microsystems. 
5+ years' workflow and system administration task automation experience using scripting language such as UNIX shells and/or PERL. 
5+ years hands on experience in supporting storage/Storage Area Network products such as EMC or NetApp. 
5+ years virtualization experience using VMWare vSphere/ESXi V5.x and above 
Hands on experience with system management tools such as HP OpenView, HP Server Automation, HP Network Automation, HP Operations Orchestration and Remedy 
Strong working knowledge of Internet networking technologies and principals including TCP/IP and DNS/BIND. 
Understanding of overall business functions and the impact of technical decisions on business results. 
Ability to work in a team environment that requires a great deal of independent thinking and work execution. 
Demonstrated commitment to providing customer-focused quality service. 
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills. 
Exceptional documentation skills are required. 
Exceptional planning skills and ability to work within change control parameters. 
Ability to work well under pressure. 
Ability to follow policies and procedures that dictate minimum standards for ticket handling, such as customer communication status updates, timelines for escalation, management communication status updates, etc. 
Preferred qualifications include: 
ITIL v3 Foundation certification preferred 
Certified as RHCE for version 5 or above. 
Oracle DB experience as it relates to troubleshooting and support. 
Technical Lead experience or senior level escalations experience. 
Intel, AMD based blade server experience, using any UNIX or LINUX version. 
System management tools - HP Openview, HP Server Automation, HP Operations Orchestration and Remedy. 
Practical or educational background in development principles. 
Any developer experience using PHP, Ruby, Python
