Senior Business Systems Analyst / Business Analyst (Agile + Enterprise Systems)

Location: Minneapolis / Saint Paul metro 
Interview - Inperson - St. Paul, MN
Work type: Hybrid/Onsite (local to Twin Cities area)

Role summary
We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst to support enterprise business applications and cross-functional initiatives. This role partners with business stakeholders, operations, IT, QA, and vendors to define requirements, improve processes, support Agile delivery, and ensure stable system operations, enhancements, reporting, and user enablement.

Key responsibilities

Business & systems analysis

  • Assist QA leads to create and maintain Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) artifacts to ensure full test coverage and alignment to requirements

  • Produce Business Requirements Specification (BRS) documentation covering functional and non-functional requirements

  • Facilitate requirements workshops with stakeholders and end users

  • Develop and refine wireframes to support solution design and requirements elicitation

  • Document current-state workflows and create future-state process maps

  • Translate business needs into system requirements and actionable solutions across business, operations, and IT

  • Assess current procedures, identify inefficiencies/redundancies/gaps, and recommend process improvements

  • Perform cost-benefit and ROI analysis to support system and process decisions

  • Support contract renewals and vendor relationship management for enterprise systems

  • Create user documentation, training materials, manuals, and system guides

Agile / product ownership support

  • Work in Agile delivery teams with development and QA partners

  • Support and, when needed, perform Product Owner tasks (feature definition, user stories, backlog refinement)

  • Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize work and maximize business value

  • Advocate for users and serve as an SME through the delivery lifecycle

System maintenance & enhancements

  • Review, test, and implement vendor-delivered enhancements and upgrades

  • Maintain foundation tables, security roles, and permissions

  • Support creation/execution/documentation of test scripts and system changes

  • Ensure integrations function properly across related applications

  • Troubleshoot and resolve post-implementation issues

Reporting & data management

  • Extract, manipulate, and analyze system data to support reporting and decisions

  • Build and maintain custom queries and datasets for analysis

  • Integrate data with reporting tools to improve and automate reporting

  • Provide guidance and training to users of reporting/data tools

Leadership & collaboration

  • Provide guidance to stakeholders, project teams, and junior analysts

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and interdepartmental projects

  • Support project planning, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and quality reviews with consultants/vendors

  • Train and support staff on system usage, updates, and enhancements

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, MIS, or Economics

  • 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst

  • 2 years of experience performing configurations, modifications, or enhancements within enterprise business applications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, MIS, or Economics may substitute for 2 years of experience

Preferred / desired skills

  • Experience with large, complex SaaS vendor implementations

  • Experience supporting large transit initiatives and/or transformation programs

  • Strong emotional intelligence and stakeholder management across multiple organizational levels

  • IIBA certification (preferred)

  • Power BI dashboard development and analytics experience

  • Experience with Miro, Mural, Microsoft Whiteboard, or similar collaboration tools

  • Experience working in waterfall, agile, and hybrid delivery environments

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise systems (HRIS, PeopleSoft Financials, or equivalent)

  • Understanding of budgeting, procurement, HR, and finance processes

  • Business process improvement, workflow optimization, and change management experience

  • Strong analytical skills (process mapping, data analysis, metrics reporting)

  • Strong technical skills in Excel (pivot tables/charts), Word, PowerPoint, Access; SQL querying preferred

  • Excellent documentation, training, presentation, and communication skills
