Overview
The Occupational Therapist carry out an individualized programs for patient with acute and chronic health conditions to maximize their quality of life and achieve their functional goals. The therapist will also maintain a positive working relationship with other health professionals and ancillary staff.
What you will do
  • Performs evaluations, determines OT diagnoses, develops plan of care, and performs occupational therapy procedures to aid in restoring function, improve mobility, relieve pain, improve health, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities.
  • Evaluates and assesses the patient timely, based on principles outlined by practice guidelines, evidence based guidelines and regulatory standards (state & organizational policies, requirements of accrediting bodies, etc.). Assesses and documents progress for evaluation, billing and reporting purposes.
  • Advises on adaptive equipment to help patients with daily activities.
  • Builds trusting collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care needs. Actively participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings, as assigned.
  • Assists and participates in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students.
  • Follows and carries out the treatment plan. Modifies to maximize therapeutic benefit and meet discharge criteria and returns to optimal level of care. Utilizes testing results and develops updated plan of care based on principles outlined in appropriate evidence based guidelines.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelors Degree, Occupational Therapy (Required) or
  • Masters Degree, Occupational Therapy (Required) or
  • Doctoral Degree, Occupational Therapy ()

Experience
  • 1 year Occupational Therapy (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
  • License Occupational Therapy (OT) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required) and
  • License Occupational Therapy (OTR) - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Inc (NBCOT) Upon Hire(Required) and
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)
