Job description

JOB TITLE: Speech -Language Therapy Assistant
Reports to: Director of Special Education
Wood County Special Education SSA
Speech-language pathologist licensed by SBESLPA
Dept/School: Wood County Special Education SSA
Primary Purpose:
Provide speech-language pathology services to students under the direction of a speech therapy supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, Speech Therapy Assistant License
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions. Ability to instruct and manage student behavior.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
EXPERIENCE:
25 hours of Practicum
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Therapy
  1. Under supervision, plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech and language goals contained in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Assessment
  1. Complete referrals for students not yet in public
  1. Collect referrals for special education from various schools and deliver them to the special education office for logging in.
  1. Under supervision, collect accurate and ongoing data for speech students relating to therapy or other school-provided speech services.
  1. Participate with the supervisor in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings as requested by supervisor.
