TX-STAR Speech Language Services partners with school districts throughout Texas to provide students with specialized support for a wide range of developmental and functional needs. We are seeking Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) for school-based assignments in the Austin and San Antonio areas.
These opportunities are well suited for professionals who enjoy helping students strengthen the practical, sensory, and motor skills needed to participate more independently and successfully in the classroom.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a school-based COTA, you will provide occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. You will help students work toward individualized goals while improving their ability to participate in educational activities and daily school routines.
In this role, you will:
Carry out occupational therapy interventions that support students' IEP goals and educational needs
Help students improve fine motor coordination, sensory processing, self-care, and other functional abilities
Provide therapy services in person or through teletherapy, depending on assignment requirements
Record therapy activities, student responses, and progress toward established goals
Coordinate regularly with the supervising Occupational Therapist regarding treatment plans and student performance
Partner with teachers, support personnel, and campus teams to promote student participation
Assist students with accessing classroom materials, instructional activities, and daily routines
Prepare therapy resources, equipment, and materials for scheduled sessions
Maintain orderly and accurate service records and related documentation
Follow district procedures, professional standards, and applicable compliance requirements
Qualifications for This Position
Current Texas license to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Ability to provide services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
Strong interpersonal, communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with therapy providers, educators, families, and school staff
Previous experience supporting pediatric or school-based populations is preferred
