This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the organization's fleet of revenue fare collection equipment, networking equipment, and troubleshooting and repair of board level electronic components used at the. Commuter Rail, Light Rail Stations, RTD and Contractor Bus Divisions.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL:
  • Conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of RTD, working effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Works at all RTD facilities, buildings and garages, on the road to service, repair and maintain RTD revenue vending and electronic machines and equipment.
  • Secures and protects RTD revenue materials and equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Installs and services new/replacement machines and equipment on RTD vehicles and facilities by performing mechanical, electrical and electronic maintenance work.
  • Trouble-shoots, diagnoses and repairs malfunctions in fare boxes, coin and bill counters, coin wrappers, ticket vending machines, change making and other revenue vending, electronic and related machines and equipment.
  • Reads and interprets wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals and blueprints pertaining to machines and equipment installed serviced and maintained.
  • Safely operates motor vehicles, mechanical, electronic hand tools and equipment to maintain, repair and replace machines and equipment serviced.
  • Evaluates work requirements, measures and calculates defects and systems requirements, prepares parts and material lists and carries out required tasks.
  • Conforms to all safety regulations and practices.
  • Works flexible days, hours and shifts.
  • Works on occasion under adverse conditions and confined spaces, outdoors in all weather conditions and in a garage environment.
  • Lifts objects over 100lbs. and handles fareboxes up to 200lbs with or without accommodation.

OTHER:
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree in Electronic Technology or a graduate certificate in electronics from an accredited institution.
  • Must posses a valid driver's license continually for the past two(2) years. No DUI, DWI, or reckless driving in the past 5 years.
  • Ability to pass a polygraph examination.
  • Must be bondable and able to pass a police background check.
  • Ability to pass a RTD required Physical Ability Asssessment (PAA) related to the physical requirements of the essential functions of the job.
  • Knowledge and experience in the installation, diagnosis, service and repair of electronic A/C D/C electrical circuits and mechanical machines, equipment and systems.
  • Journeyman level experience in electronic technology and demonstrated expertise in mechanical repair.
  • Possess a minimum set of hand tools as specified by the RTD revenue systems tool list.
  • General knowledge of safety procedures and ability to follow safe working practices.
  • Ability to read and understand technical publications and work from wiring diagrams, schematics and blueprints.
  • Proficient computer skills including Windows and DOS
  • Ability to obtain an A+ certification
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce.
